The feat is from the Book of Vile Darkness, p. 50. The feat is usable every time a vermin creature tries to attack the "Vermin Friend". So even if your scenario were about to happen, the "Vermin Friend" just may make another Charisma check to avoid been attacked. They are just mindless "bugs"...
