    Why does D&D have bears?

I don't think anyone has mentioned it directly, but I think having the Druid as one of the archetypal base classes necessitates some kind of universal concept of nature. Bears and other identifiable creatures are a part of this natural world. Admittedly, it's all a mish-mash. Why have druids...

Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil. ( CLOSED. )

Lol, hero4hire, don't feel bad, I've not heard of Neurotic's race/class combos before either. And for what it's worth, Mystra's Runic Blade, whatever it is, probably goes against TwistedMindInc's "Any non-setting WotC" criteria too. But Neurotic, you don't like your original Deepwarden or...

Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil. ( CLOSED. )

I see there are no arcanists, so I would happily play one! I will submit a concept soon. I haven't been in a game for a while, but I'm looking forward to being in one again :D

    Shadow Creature Balanced?

Uh... how is this even close to greater invisibility? It's better than Hide in Plain Sight, but nowhere near greater invisibility...? Maybe I'm reading it wrong.

    Slavery in D&D Campaign Settings

Does the player have an issue? We don't know. Does the DM? Yes. So I would advise that he stays clear. I think most people are focusing on how to deal with the player, or what is 'reasonable' for a player. But the DM is a factor here too. If he sees pitfalls in every possible scenario, then...

    Tower Shield

I wouldn't allow Tower Shields with Shield Ward, since Shield Specialization is a prerequisite, and Shield Specialization doesn't work with tower shields. Seems funny to get, say, Shield Specialization (buckler), then be allowed to use Shield Ward for tower shields. But that's just me.

    Natural Weapons and Reach Weapons

TWF debate? You're saying the monk doesn't threaten unless he's fighting with two weapons?

character concept, correction and criticism desired (anyone?)

Formation expert has the shortspear as one of its listed weapons. Phalanx Fighting limits you to light weapons, for a Roman Legionnaire flavor.

character concept, correction and criticism desired (anyone?)

I share Bagpuss's interpretation, and agree strongly with his suggestions. I'd add in Formation Expert somewhere.

    [COMBAT] Branding's Age of Worms

"Ow!" Majakilar says, rubbing his sore spots. "Other side might be your best choice!" he says, mimicking Owen's voice. "Hey Owen, there IS no other side safe from these balls! Just this door!" He points behind him, then realizes there's nothing there but stone wall, then points up, to where the...

Branding's Age of Worms, the 4th Generation - OOC

Sorry, I'm confused. Did Gregor and Owen go first? Or is Majakilar first, followed by Azten? Are Gregor and Owen safe on the other side, or are they behind, at the start of the bridge?

Branding's Age of Worms, the 4th Generation

"What the... whoa!!" Majakilar flails his arms, trying to maintain his balance. "That was close huh Azten? Azten...? Where are... oh hey Azten, what are you doing down there?" "Right! Other side, gotcha." Majakilar rushes across the rest of the bridge to the other side.

What Makes DnD Fun For You?

For me, it's crushing my enemies, seeing them driven before me, and hearing the lamentations of their women.

Branding's Age of Worms, the 4th Generation

After prodding and poking the iron spheres a bit, Majakilar stretches his leg out and steps gingerly with his toe on the petrified wood. "Ahh... so this is petrified wood, eh? It's like wood but made out of stone you say?" He makes a small jump, seeing how sturdy it is. Satisfied, he jumps a...
