I think skynet limits their independence and the reprogrammed ones are still compelled to follow orders.

Because that's my PoV/criteria. If an AI lacks free will it's debatable how sentient they are vs clever machine. Applies to other franchises. Skynet gas free will the average terminator doesn't. If an AI can be programmed to always vote XYZ they can be programmed to kill or whatever.

Hmm thought a spellcaster might be able to beat an archer or sword and board. Those levels scorching ray+hex sorcerer might beat a sorlock. Or sorlock using scorching ray. Remember innate sorcerer is essentially at will higher up.

Not seeing archers atm. Sharpshooter nerf and battlemaster is good but not that popular. Casuals don't seem to spot HWM can be used on bows.

You don't take maneuvers for extra damage but the rider. Eg trip. Knock them prone extra d8. Advantage to hit action surge. You're adding control optio s. A spellcaster can cast tashas hideous laughter using a daily slot. BM gets that effect plus damage as a short rest ability.
