    Let's Talk About Short Campaigns

My current campaign started with the latest box set- Stormwreck Isle. I goes to level 4 and has only like 4 places to explore. I added a few places and offered a few hooks to keep the PCs around for a few more levels, but they wanted to leave at level 5. The campaign could have ended since...

    What Is A Superhero?

I would ask what monsters are in those movies, since they are monster movies. Same as if I asked about what superheroes are in the superhero movie. The word is synonymous with the thing. I feel that the word has been used long enough that it means both things now, a bit like Velcro is...

    What Is A Superhero?

This is one of those things where both things are true. If you went to the movie and I asked what superheroes were in it, I'm not expecting a dialogue on the difference with a hero/villain/ally.

D&D 5E (2014) Advantage when two allies are in melee with the same enemy?

@MBM welcome to the site. I played with flanking all through 5e and it is fine. When my group switched to the new 5.5e I will drop the flanking and play without it. The new rules look like they have so many ways to get advantage already that I do not think they need them.

    D&D General 1e feel for 5E

I was thinking these, but maybe leave the cantrips so the magic user doesn't need a day after the one spell. Make undead scary again so the players do not want to go there. Make magic items do cool stuff. A sword that shoots fireballs and lets you teleport twice a day.

D&D General If Nentir Vale were in the Forgotten Realms, where would they be?

A lot of places it could go, but first thought was what @DEFCON 1 said and have it past Silverymoon. It has a more out of the way temperate feel, but it would also fit by Daggerford and towards Evereska.

What Show Should Have Only Had One Season?

It is on Sunday night with the guy from the CW Arrow show and takes place in LA, It is on one of the main channels. I think they are on episode 5-6. They have had a couple flashbacks with Harvey guest staring which I'm not sure about all the flashbacks adding to the show or not.

What Show Should Have Only Had One Season?

The original Suits show was great, until the last season or two which tried to branch off in a few non-core directions. The new Suits show is ok so far, but they are trying to make several main characters in case any one needs to leave, so I'm not finding any core concept yet.

D&D General Quick idea for Netheril campaign

The initial read seems like you want to have the PCs be the secondary characters in the story and the big NPCs be the world changers. This might be ok at lower levels, but at some point, the PCs start to be seen as people to be allies with or to take out somehow. An idea might be around the...

D&D Errata Nerfs Conjuring Spells, Makes Other Changes

I read the 'level above 5' to mean level 6 and up, but I can also see where people would think/argue that it means level 5 and up. Am I reading it wrong?

"Promising hints of life on distant planet"

New million dollar idea. Space rockets with baby seats. Or, is everyone going the Ted Williams (a famous American baseball player) route and be cytogenetically frozen for 'someday'.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dynamic Combat Movement houserules

Initial thought is that anything to make the grid combat better is cool, but adding another step for the player and DM might make things slower. Maybe if the attacker chooses the movement it speeds things up over slowing them down. I.E. the PC hits and the player moves both minis so the DM...

D&D 5E (2014) Introducing the COUNTDOWN DICE Mechanic!

@Ruynarety welcome and think you for bringing back this thread. I have an upcoming game with a couple places where undead break down the gate and a wizard sets something off with bad things happening. The book says 5 rounds, so it looks like I only need 2d6 and it might go a little longer...

How do you like to handle dungeon mapping?

I do not even do this nowadays. I just put out the tiles for an encounter and describe the rest. If we use a large dungeon, I may have the PCs make a group check to find their way out without a random encounter.

What Mundane Details Are Important In Your Fantastical Game/World?

I could use a website that does this and allows me to print it out and make notes. I might use it if it is simple for me.

    D&D 3.x Homebrew Content

@John98GR welcome to the site. There are still many here that still play 3e so thankyou. Wondering why all the casters have d4 for hit points though?

What Mundane Details Are Important In Your Fantastical Game/World?

I tried using Forgotten Realms (FR) names for months and 10-day weeks for tracking things back in 2e/3e days. I added moon cycles and holidays and made up things for different gods and had local founder days and such. Problem was that the players did not care. They thought it was cool and...

D&D General A thread celebrating The Superior Playstyle

You surely mean 5e with flanking and several modified 4e things thrown in. Right, right.
