Not accurately, no, but you can narrow it down to a "gut feeling" of how powerful the opponent is in relation to yourself (pushover/easy/ even/ tough/ aaugh! run away!!!) using the sense motive skill vs opponent's bluff skill. Have a look in Complete Adventurer (page 102) for specific details.

Hmmm. I've always treated a suppressed item as a magic item with a +0 bonus, and no supernatural/spell-like abilities, and therefore is not subject to effects that only work on non-magical stuff. I didn't think it would be ruled differently by others, but there you go. Diversity is great! :)
