    DND Forum: Item Creation

Can we get an Item Creation forum in the DND section? The purpose is to discuss the creation of items (magical or mundane). Thanks. /ds

    Raise Dead and Undetectable Alignment

That isn't concrete by any means. You deduced that "knowing" is irrespective of divining the information. One can divine the information thereby "knowing" the information. The more potent mind blank should be able to stop the other information gleaned, too. Heck, mind blank foils miracle...

    Raise Dead and Undetectable Alignment

Good question. I would allow the alignment to be hidden.

    Please rate Shield Expert

Bummer. Know of any that allow keeping the shield bonus as I described?

    Uber archer?

This is slightly off-topic, but are there any fighter feats that give a +20 insight bonus to normal attacks? My DM is stingy with magic items, so picking up a use-activated (attack) item of true strike is outta the question regardless of the cost. A feat is much easier in that regards...

Does immune to Paralysis mean immune to Hold?

They are not the same thing.

    Please rate Shield Expert

It doesn't say explicitly, but does it follow that if you wear a buckler on your arm and use a weapon (such as a crossbow or two-handed weapon) that you maintain your AC bonus for that round? Thanks. /ds

    Templates and HD

Howdy. A cleric's HD is d8. At level 5, he has 5d8 hit points. He then gains a template which has d12 HD. Does this mean the cleric's hp are recalculated for 5d12? If so, do you just add 5 * (d12 avg - d8 avg) hp to the total hp? In this case, it would be 10 hp. Thanks. /ds

    Move + MEA: Allowed?

BTW, I think that by the letter of the wording, if you cannot move your normal speed (say because you are wading through thick brambles that limit movement to one-half speed), you shouldn't be able to do a MEA. MEAs can be used in place of moving at normal speed. :D I would never play it like...

    Move + MEA: Allowed?

From the definition of MEA in the glossary of the PHB: This covers:Control two flaming spheres (two MEA instead of double move) Draw a potion (MEA) and drink it (standard action) Load a crossbow (MEA) and fire it (standard action) What about:Move (move action) and load a crossbow (MEA) A...

    Entangle and Flaming Sphere

The spell entangle doesn't mention it being combustible whereas its equivalent wizard spell web does. Allowing fire to burn it adds a whole new element that isn't covered by the spell. Does it catch fire and wipe out the entire 40-ft. radius spread in X rounds? Just the 5-ft. square and...

    Entangle and Flaming Sphere

Tonight we encountered a druid that threw entangles at us. She cast flaming sphere and then an entangle on the next round. The flaming sphere was in the area of effect. We decided to play it such that all physical objects can be affected by entangle (or web for that matter). The checks are...

[BADD] DM taking it too far?

Re: Re: Re: [BADD] DM taking it too far? Not a member of BADD, but I agree with their tenets. I always hated it when DMs made dragons land next to the two-handed dragonslayer sword-wielding fighter to "duke it out." Pathetic. Creating challenging dragon encounters usually involves lower CR...

    Paladin Detect Evil Question

IIRC, the DoF even goes to say that the Paladin often stands near the back of a parlay and "investigates" the opposing party. /ds

    Famous Wizards' Names

Hrm. People that pronounce the 'f' in 'fifth' are being pretentious. Much like those that pronounce the 't' in 'often'. :) /ds

    Panicked and Cowering

Howdy. The PHB glossary notes that a panicked creature will cower if corner, most likely taking the full defense action. The DMG does not mention that in its panicked section, though it notes that spells or special abilities can be used to get away. The DMG describes the cowering condition...

Changing Forms (Ex, Su, and Sp)

    Dispellable Spells

Can it be assumed that, unless otherwise stated, all spells that have a duration can be dispelled? For example, wall of stone does not have a duration whereas wall of ice does. /ds

    Fighter Feat Suggestion

He is a CL 9 with a BAB +9. He could have either taken it with his 9th-level general feat or his 8th-level fighter feat (Fighters, as you know, get bonus feats on even levels). /ds
