I will no longer reply on this topic as it seems you can't handle a slightly heated conversation like a mature person.

Well, d'oh! A mature person would not have entered into a heated conversation in the first place.

Yes but remember the name of the game is Dungeon's and Dragon's. Dragon's are the ultimate beasts here, outshined by nothing, not even the heroes. Which is why when a group of adventurers kills a dragon it is a big thing. Dragon's are extremely intelligent, they know the area they live in and what it's inhabitants are like and capable of. It seems like first of all this dragon was just way too easy to pick off. No offense it's just that it irks me when dragons seem too easy to kill and this one deffinately seemed like it, especially if the dragon was faced in it's lair. I'm not saying they should be impossible to kill, they should just be damn near impossible to kill.

I take it you're one of the Bothered About Defeatable Dragons group. They usually go too far (BADD Dragon's are custom built specifically to beat the PCs, have a collection of traps that make Grimtooth look like a wuss, plus lots of situational advantages, plus lots of custom magic items).

The dragon was by no means a pushover. Hong missed completely in the first round due to the dragon having AC 55. Unfortunately a Greater Dispelling knocked the AC down to 38 in the first round (Black dragons aren't that great at spellcasting, so the spellcasters didn't have that much trouble dispelling stuff).
The PCs used up nearly all of their combat spells, several PCs got chewed on and spat out, most of the battle was in darkness spells so only about half the PCs could see (the darkness kept getting dispelled but the dragon would use quicken spell-like to put it back up again).

Back to the original topic: Hong's archer character is quite effective. Not having to close to melee makes a big difference to the survivability of archers (the melee fighters took a bucketload of damage in the battle with the dragon). The 'holy' enchantment on the bow, where the melee fighters don't have damage-boosting enchantments also helps a lot.
Some of Hong's feats and PrC abilities seem OK individually, but become very nasty in combination.

Geoff.

I gotta say, if it wasn't for Aaron's greater dispelling, we'd probably have been hamburger.

After my experiences with that death salad of yours, I've learned to keep a healthy distance from the sword-swinging. :)

This is slightly off-topic, but are there any fighter feats that give a +20 insight bonus to normal attacks? My DM is stingy with magic items, so picking up a use-activated (attack) item of true strike is outta the question regardless of the cost. A feat is much easier in that regards.

Cheers,

Not that I know of. The ability my archer has isn't really a feat, but a martial arts "mastery" ability, along the lines of what's in OA.

You certainly are not going to get anything, whether it's a feat, magic item, or fancy body artwork, that gives you +20 with every attack. At most, maybe 3 times per day.

If you want +20 to hit, just add twenty levels to your character.

:)
