D&D 5E (2024) Jeremy Crawford: “We are releasing new editions of the books”

They know it'll end up being 5.5e or OneD&D or whatever. They are afraid customers might think they have to go through editions 1-5 to play the next edition, which a new player once feared about 5e when the game came out.

    D&D 5E (2024) Survey Launch | Player's Handbook Playtest 5 | Unearthed Arcana | D&D

What I mean is that I don't include it in my adventure writing because it'd make things too specific. I also have a map so if I made some distinct feature like floating rocks on a regular plain, it might get complicated since the players might decide to use those as landmarks. Plus, it lets me...

    D&D 5E (2024) Survey Launch | Player's Handbook Playtest 5 | Unearthed Arcana | D&D

I'm curious, so how about an exercise: Let's have those that think fly is or is not a problem design their idea of a bog-standard encounter that they'd expect to have in a generic game. For example, off the top of my head, my random encounters are often made like this: Level 1 Random...

    D&D 5E (2024) 4/26 Playtest: The Fighter

How does everyone feel about the "Blessing" system in the DMG as a fix for the balance as long as they are actually given to players at set intervals rather than DM permission. We could even have it where martial/noncaster classes get a blessing every two level ups and casters don't get any...

The "I Didn't Comment in Another Thread" Thread

I think at this point, at least personally, that I open up to new things based on association. I won't spend money on "random movie title" coming out if I never seen anything about it, but if I'm associated with someone or something that can vouch for its quality, I give it a try. I don't...

D&D 5E (2024) Epic Boon of Irresistible Offense

Its definitely a big-hitter feature, especially one Barbarians and Fighters who have a chance to roll 4 times by the time this feature comes online. The fact it bypasses resistances as well makes it pretty decent. But it doesn't need the once-per-turn clause.

    D&D 5E (2024) Survey Launch | Player's Handbook Playtest 5 | Unearthed Arcana | D&D

I don't think its the resolution of the effects that are the most time consuming, barring very complex effects, but I think the biggest form of time-loss, especially the unfun kind, is making the decision in the first place. A wizard that really knows their spells and know their rulings like...

    D&D 5E (2024) Survey Launch | Player's Handbook Playtest 5 | Unearthed Arcana | D&D

So far, they've preserved the "prepared" (actual prepared) Arcane spell user and its theoretically unlimited spells known via their spellbook. I think the spellbook is the one identity that needs to stay. I'm not a fan of the gameplay but its a very unique experience when the group finds a...

    D&D 5E (2024) Survey Launch | Player's Handbook Playtest 5 | Unearthed Arcana | D&D

I'm just glad they acknowledged that class-specific spells and cantrips aren't meant to be compared 1:1 with each other irrespective of classes.

When its gotten to the point that I'd rather not even correct something that's wrong on a reply to my own comments, you know its bad. Like, real bad.

    D&D 5E (2024) 4/26 Playtest: The Fighter

I just want to say that I wish they expanded and fully implemented the "Blessings" mechanic in the DMG. Right now, its poorly implemented but it has a lot of abilities that people are suggesting at this moment. They even avoid antimagic so its not overtly magic item use. For example, a...

    D&D 5E (2024) 4/26 Playtest: The Sorceror

In the DMG, it calls out the material component of Plane Shift to be "an important limitation" where "even the act of researching the correct specification can lead to adventure." So it is indeed an intended limitation for at least a few spells. Not everyone sees things the same way as you...

    D&D 5E (2024) 4/26 Playtest: The Fighter

I don't mean this in a way that targets you specifically, but there's been three separate instances where people have taken words out my mouth and argued against them as if I actually said them. For this reply specifically, I never said the rogue used a skill check. I can see the confusion...

    D&D 5E (2024) 4/26 Playtest: The Sorceror

I actually think its possible that they might move to more force-resistant enemies. It might just be my hope, though to keep warlocks from being sorely affected, they may be able to add a "bypass force resistance" clause to agonizing blast. Because I think if a creature is resistant to magic...
