    New RPG coming out soon?

Three thoughts: 1. What is canon? For example the Jedi forms (Shi-Cho, Niman etc) aren't mentioned by names in the films, CGI TV series or new books, but clearly some Force users are using these techniques in the aforementioned media. It seems pedantic to disregard them. Disney themselves have...

    New RPG coming out soon?

Surely the group of players decides how canon they want to be? The content from the books just provides options. I'm sure it's possible just to pick choices that fit with what you want. What kind of things were you thinking of?

Is There A New STAR TREK RPG Coming?

I think FFG would have something to say about that.

The EN World Best Sellers List 4Q2015

Great to see FFG Star Wars up there in the top 5 so much.

Working on a Star Wars Jedi campaign, need some advice.

As I mentioned in the other thread, I'll throw a nod to FFG star wars, although I haven't played the old systems so I can't really say much about those. Characters in the FFG system start with very little force ability, and it takes quite a lot of XP to build it up, and it comes at the expense...

    Potential Hasbro and Mattel Merger?

If it can get more people into tabletop gaming I don't think I have too much issue with it.

Working on a Star Wars Jedi campaign, need some advice.

If you want them to eventually become actual Jedi then it would probably be best before Order 66 occurs - i.e. before Episode 3. If you're not bothered about the proper Jedi order and just want to the characters to become "like a Jedi" then it doesn't really matter. The period of the original...

    Why OD&D Is Still Relevant

I agree that balance can never be achieved- but it can be strived for. For some people it's not a problem but for others it is. So logically if the game is designed with balance in mind, then it's going to make more people happy and enjoy the product more. For the people who don't care about...

    Why OD&D Is Still Relevant

Surely any character, in any setting, in any RPG system can try any action? That's what RPGs are about. It's just a case of knowing what kind of roll to make and how hard the check is? Maybe in your example the crowbar makes it a bit easier - either there will be rule for it, or the players...

    Why OD&D Is Still Relevant

From a relatively new tabletop gamer I don't see the appeal in these old versions. These days games designers often think about good design principles, balance, fairness and making the game exciting and interesting for all the players and GM. Some of these old systems have horrendous balance...

two-weapon combat ? how does the damage work?

Is it an official rule I've missed that a crit can automatically drop one minion in a minion group?

is it me? FFG Star Wars

I didn't think Fantasy Grounds supported FFG star wars? If that is the case then it might explain that statistic.

How Much Overlap in the Books?

Indeed, personally I would only advise getting all 3 core books if someone has lots of disposable income or is a fan of the system.

    What an interesting dice mechanic

When this happens it's one of my favourite things - I think it really gives an opportunity to have some fun and add to the scene. For example: PC shoots at a bunch of stormtroopers in a corridor. Fails but gets a triumph. Players decide that what happens is that the shot goes high, hits a pipe...

    Wookies and armor

Considering that padded armour is only 500 credits my thought is that you may as well. Having a soak of 7 would make the character such a tank. You can always flavour the armour to be more in keeping with the character i.e. describe it how you want.

    What an interesting dice mechanic

If you can't think of anything, then you can just use the advantage or threat to recover or take some strain, or give a boost die to the next player. If you use the dice roller app I think it gives you the overall result - not entirely sure though as I haven't used it.

two-weapon combat ? how does the damage work?

You add one purple die to the difficulty of the check for a two weapon attack. If you hit with the main weapon, you may spend two adv. or one triumph to hit with the offhand weapon. You use the same damage dice for both hits. So if you rolled 5 overall successes, you'd deal 11 damage (not...

    working the black market

As the GM you are in full control of what the player characters have access to. If you don't want them to get an item, just tell them they can't find it. 6 or 7 difficulty dice seems very over the top. The hardest I would ever think would be 5 with upgrades to red dice. Despairs or serious...

is it me? FFG Star Wars

You could, but if you just do: advantage = add boost dice to own next check threat = add setback dice to self next time then it's a quick and easy interpretation. Also advantages can be spent to trigger critical hits. From experience, combat is usually over in about 2 or 3 rounds anyway -...

FFG's STAR WARS License Renewed - and Includes Episode 7!

I'm actually going to retract my dislike for the dice system - I think I just had the wrong type of players the first time I tried it. After having run the system a few times with some good role players, I actually find it a refreshing change and I have grown to like it a lot. I really like the...
