Whats your opinion on the Point Buy System

I love the point buy:D !! I would hate to play in a campaign where stats were generated by rolling ever again. In my campaigns we don't even roll HP anymore. You just get the average rounded down. It seems very unfair to me to leave things that have such a huge effect on a characters power...

D&D 3.x Playing in a DND3E game with no magic items

I agree whole-heartedly with this!! Unless spellcasters are toned down ALOT, the fighting classes will always play second note. At higher levels they will be close to useless compared to primary spellcasters. I think the opposition is easy to adjust. Adjusting the classes to make them...

A problem with D&D that's not really a problem (minor rant)

I don't think this is heavy handed at all! In fact every DM should think about what Prestige Classes they want and don't want in their campaigns. They should fit the flavor of the campaign and be a balanced class as well. The fact is not PrC's fit with all campaigns (Some campaigns just don't...

Is there a physics major on here willing to help me with a few things?

Hmmm, I'm pretty sure the period between high tides is 12 hours. This would mean that the side of the earth facaing the moon and the side of the earth facing away from the moon are experiencing high tide at the same time. Low tides would be occuring at perpendicular angles to this. I wouldn't...

    Revised 3e Seminar: Stacking bonuses

Finally! I was wondering why they just didn't do this to begin with!:D Frankly I think the ability to stack a sheild with Mage Armor and Bracers of Armor certainly isn't game breaking and this is just so much simpler than having that weird stacking exception. I've been giving sheilds a...

    PDF Vs. Print [Slight Rant]

Well It seems to me that in general .pdf books are only a couple of dollars less than their print counterparts. I just find that the cost and effort of printing and binding the .pdf's just not worth the few dollars saved. Especially when the .pdf files have alot of color. It's especially...

    Advancing Animal Companions

I'm another DM who had always house ruled animal companions so they could be advanced instead of dismissing them and finding a new companion. I did this long before MotW came out. I prefer the idea of a Druid/Ranger keeping their companions around for a long time. That being said I think...

[HUMOR] Don't visit this site if you're at work.

I buy most of my gaming Stuff at FoF but other than a little Chainmail last summer I've never actually gamed in the store. Some of the guys I remember playing Chainmail with were Rich, Matt, and John....... of course I don't know their last names and those names aren't exactly...

[HUMOR] Don't visit this site if you're at work.

LoL!! That was some funny stuff. Reminds me of some gaming experiences when I was a kid, only alot more extreme! The really funny thing is that I'm in the Albany area. So now everytime I see someone "interesting" at Flights of Fantasy (Our local gaming store) I'll be wondering if he's actually...

Something that's been nagging me about Cure spells.

I think DreamChaser's intent with that statement was to *allow* critical hits on undead if the damage was being caused by positive energy. Edit: Changed my post to make it gender neutral. I don't know if DC is a he or a she!;)

Anyone *still* not gotten Dragon yet?

Yeah, I haven't received mine yet either:( . I usually get them 4-5 days after I see the issue contents here at EN world. This time it's been much longer though...... I was actually thinking about calling them. I guess it's good to know that others are having this problem too. I thought mine...

    Hide the same as Invisibility?

Of course I would give someone who was hiding while invisible a pretty significant circumstance bonus to their hide check.

    Offensive use for Mage Armor?

I say no I would have to come down on the "no" side of this argument as well. It clearly stretches the intent of the spell. If the designers intended that Mage Armor would allow unarmed attacks to strike incorporeal creatures I'm almost positive that would have been stated in the spell...

    In Place of Chainmail?

Ugh! :( I played the first chainmail. I liked the game. I really liked having miniatures that matched the DnD races and monsters so well. (Of course they needed more than one stinking gnome! I think there was only one halfling as well.) I bought ALOT of the Chainmail miniatures. This...

    Spell Duels with More Counterspelling

I was just about to ask a very similar question. What are some counterspelling house rules out there? I personally have never seen a counterspell used in play... it just seems too difficult. One idea I had was you could burn any spell slot of the level or higher of the spell you want to...

[OT] I'm paying $350 a MONTH in Car Insurance!!

Dude I would totally shop around. Insurance rates for can vary significantly from company to company. It doesn't hurt to collect a few quotes from a few different companies. Just have your current policy in front of you when you are on the phone so you can be sure that you are getting the same...

    Help me use Power Attack

I currently play a Barb2/Ftr2 with the Power Attack feet and I use it all the time. In the right situations it can massively ramp up your damage output. The key is to use it when the roll you need to hit your opponent is pretty low. This happens against low AC opponents (duh) but can also...

    I am a better DM than a player (THREAD-O-MANCY)

Yeah, I'm generally the DM of our group as well, but because I've been to busy lately(Grad School sucks up alot of time) I've been on the players side. -I have a very hard time RPing a single complex character. I mean I always found it pretty easy to play a bunck of two dimensional cleches...

    Magic double weapon pricing

I believe you would price it just like you would separate weapons. So in the case of a +2/+1 double sword it would be: (10,000 gp + double masterwork cost + item cost) Although I'm actually not sure if you would have to pay double the masterwork cost..... Right now I'm leaning twards yes.
