Maintaining a fort - what is needed

My evil players have enslaved a group of humans and allied themselves with a brood of goblins that live in the dungeons and caverns under the castle. They use them for all the "dirty" work. Yes, the place is a mess, and stinks, but thats how they like it!

Logistics of a real Superhero world

You should read MiracleMan by Neail Gaiman. You would have T.V.! someone has to report where the rampaging Villian is, and then you have to think about all the reality T.V. centered on either the good or bad guy.

How Were AoOs / OAs Explained to You?

Same here. The rule is now that they are almost level 9, that if they die doing something to either save the group, or for a good cause, they get to roll up a new character at the same level as the last one. But if it is because they got into a fight with the town guard alone in the dark...

    Handling Cheating

Sarah: What a horrible place this is! It's not fair! Bottom Red Guard: That's right. It's not fair! [All the guards laugh.] Bottom Red Guard: But that's only half of it! Sarah: This was a dead end a minute ago. Bottom Blue Guard: No, that's the dead end behind you! [All the guards laugh, and...

    Handling Cheating

People who tell other people that they are "wrong", and refuse to see how another person could see it from another perspective scare me. They usually capitalize the word "truth", and believe themselves unable to be incorect on any topic.

How Were AoOs / OAs Explained to You?

I see this alot too. My players don't like to retreat. EVER. It is pretty clear cut. I don't see the problem, or why others don't grasp it. Both of my sons understand it. (9 and 12 year olds)

    OAs/AoO - they gotta go

Why do they do that? PCs and their intentions...

This is especially true the bigger your group gets. I sometimes have a group of 3 adults in their 30's, and a teenager, and 2 pre teens and an 8 and a 6 year old. The range of randomness that they can throw at me is astounding. That being said I have seen the entire group turtle in a...

    Taking 10 With Survival

Living in medieval times before supermarkets is the equivilant of probably 5 ranks in survival. If you lived in that kind of society, you could track down small game, and find water, make a fire and cook. Would it be harder for the non-adventurer types? Sure. A deposed prince and his...

What are your gaming stuff mishaps?

Not specifically for this, but it has been 8 years since I have spoken with them. What kind of boring RPG sessions do you have that this has never come to pass in any of them?? :D Don't you have a basement?? That where you should be storing that stuff. Preferably high up in a plastic...

    Handling Cheating

I agree! The players should never know you mad those monsters easier to kill, lesser in number or forget 1/2 of their spells. That just kills the idea of the game. You might as well tell them "I let you win". In that case the DM is cheating. Not cheating at the game, but cheating everyone...

Most spells available at first level?

1st leve wish is called "Pretty please with a cherry on top?" You have a 1% chance for your limited wish request to come true. Have a 5% multiplier per level.

    Handling Cheating

The way I see it, GM's CANT cheat. They are effectively god for the entire game. What they say is reality. So how can he be cheating??

So I decided to build a game table

Thats a perfect size. I'm sorry, I'm going to have to confiscate that table. It does not conform to title 4 section 3 line 8 of the safety codes. I will be by later to pick up the offending item.

    Building a village

Don't forget the basics.... wells, farms, a blacksmith, bakery, inn, clothing/seamstress. That kind of stuff tends to slip past me when I'm town building. I never forget the haunted manor, infested lake or crumbling caverns. Include a graveyard as well. The dead have to go somewhere!

    Found: Elusive particle!

They say in the article that the particles do not in fact destroy each other. So how are they their own anti-particle? Is that like parking on the driveway and driving on the parkway?

Concerning 3rd editions Wizard's being over powered.

Havent had it yet, but I'm sure I will. My evil campaign is progressing nicely. They are almost level 9, and with an evil necromancer and Cleric in the group, it should start to get really interesting.... If it gets to be too much, I'm sure I can put together a group of good characters that...
