    D&D 4E In terms of theme, tone, and spirit, I hope 4e . . .

    I really like much of the interior art for the 3.5 books. The covers not so much. I'm also a big fan of the 1e/Moldvay-Cook era art. I don't really like much of the RPG fantasy art that came between the two eras.

    Is WoTC even relevant to you anymore?

    There is National D&D Day. Stores can opt to get adventures and miniatures to use for one-shot demos in the store. I've seen D&D ads in comic books on occasion.

    How would you do 3.5e in 160 pages?

    Check out my old thread for an analysis of text-per-page layout in the 3.5 PHB and the Castles & Crusades PHB. http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=198414

    How would you do 3.5e in 160 pages?

    Something to keep in mind... d20 Modern had a full set of rules, classes, prestige (or advanced, I can't remember) classes, feats, skill descriptions, rules, several campaign options, and a big chunk of monsters! All in one book!

    Squinting at my #@!% DM Screen

    Which screen are you using? I used the nice screen that came with either Dragon or Dungeon magazine when 3.5 first came out, and I found it too hard to read. Now I use the DCC screen from Goodman Games and it is much, much easier to read. Another option is to purchase a GM screen (or make...

    How would you do 3.5e in 160 pages?

    About a month and a half ago, I was talking with some people on the board about the possibility of making a 32-page booklet containing all or almost all of the spells from the PHB. The general consensus of the thread was that it would be possible with heavy editing and without a need for many...

    What's the Best RPG Bargain You've Ever Gotten?

    Wilderlands of High Fantasy for $25. It was supposedly "dinged" but it looked fine to me. A huge box of old Dragon magazines, averaging around 20 cents per mag.

    Elmore cover art for final issue of Dragon

    I'm a part of this minority. I have no problem with Elmore being used for the final issue, since so many people like his art. But I never have. I'd rather have seen an Erol Otus cover for the last issue, or a similar artist from the very early D&D days. However, I think this piece accurately...

    20 Minutes of Fun ... and for How Much Money?

    Minus holidays, illness and diversions, we play once a week about nine months out of the year (December is a particular dead zone for us). Each session is around four hours, so that's 144 game hours a year. Each of my players has a 3.5 PHB ($20.00) and their own set of dice ($6.00). So, for...

    The Old 1e/2e --> 3e Module Conversions

    Thanks freyar. I remembered that there were some official guidelines given by WotC that caused the earlier conversions (which included IP) to be removed. There's still a fair amount available via that link, though. Good stuff.

    The Old 1e/2e --> 3e Module Conversions

    Way back when 3e first came out, there were several conversions of older adventure modules on this site. Basically, they were just 3e updates to monster stats, npc stats, traps/hazzards and treasures. The files didn't include any of the maps, descriptions or flavor text (that I can remember...

    Travelling Light to games

    A laptop or pocket computer, a set of dice (if, like me, you can't stand the idea of electronic die rollers at the table), a GM screen (or a light external monitor for your laptop if you can afford the smallest and lightest one), and an agreement with your gaming location to leave your overhead...

    Re-trying 1st Ed.

    If you do 1st ed with 3e mechanics, go with OSRIC and the 1e Feats book mentioned below. Also, don't forget the Role-Aids and Judges Guild books! Now, if you decide to do it the other way around (which you've already done or thought about doing) You can choose to use only the monsters that...

    Removing yourself from a gaming group

    About five years ago a friend of mine brought a friend of his to our gaming group. When this guy didn't get the kind of treasure he wanted, he proceeded to sleep on my couch for the rest of the session. Later, he posted about what an awful DM I was on the WotC message board. D&D (3.5) gamers...

    Suggestions for Inspirational D&D Comics/Graphic Novels

    I want to share the stories that originally inspired Dungeons & Dragons (see Appendix N: Inspirational and Educational Reading in the 1e AD&D DMG) with my current players. However, they have very busy schedules and not much time to read. Since they are comic book fans, I'm trying to put...

    WoTC products, going downhill?

    I would say that the Dungeon Master's Guide II, Magic Item Compendium, Spell Compendium and Dungeon Tiles mark an upturn in quality and focus for D&D 3.5 products. The second wave of the Complete books and the Expedition series haven't really impressed me much, but that might be personal...

    d20 SRD (or any other RPG documents) for SmartPhones?

    When the SRD was first released, I seem to recall that there were some folks who wanted to format it for a small PDA screen. I've recently picked up a low-end SmartPhone (the MotoQ -- which, while it is in the low-end of the current SmartPhones, is completely new and awesome to me), and I found...
