Wealth limits and Selling made items

If a player's into item creation and are selling items either to stores or (more likely) to your party for a discount, how do you DM's handle wealth limits? The PC is exchanging xp for gold, essentially, so will tend to have more gold than their level would normally warrant. Do you give them...

    Equipping Improved Familiars

If you have an improved familiar that is capable of wearing and wielding items- one that is humanoid, like a mephit- would it be possible to do so? I know the effects wouldn't overlap in either direction, but it'd be a nice way to protect the familiar...

    Arcane Armor?

Anyone know of an enchantment for armor- not a material like mithril- that reduces it's arcane spell failure? If not, do you think there is a reason? What would it's + value be, if it could be computed that way?

    Summon Mephit

Mephits have a 25% chance of summoning another mephit of the same type. How long do these guys stick around? It says "much like summon monster" but it also says that new mephits can't use their summoning power for an hour.

    Characters in the same square...

it's when they're grappling In a grapple, any missile weapons fired into the grapple have an even chance of hitting any grapplers. It's only listed as a footnote to the AC modifications table- pretty buried, but there.

How to price a masterwork banjo buckler?

Ok, ok, I thought of that, too I was picturing it being designed with that taken into consideration- extra hardness was what I was picturing. Mayhap make it mithril? (say it repeatedly quickly) I think making it magical- aside from the bonus to the perform check- makes sense, though I was...

How to price a masterwork banjo buckler?

So I'm going over Monte's bard from S&SOP, converting an NPC from the old bard to this one and I'm digging the proficiencies- glad he can still use his whip, when I get to the bit I hadn't noticed before. The bit where it says that as long as the armor check penalty did not exceed three, there...

    Grenade-like Potions

What I want them for Like I said, I'm more interested in a cleric who can nail be standing back nailing the Tank in the back of the head every round with cure-grenades. Heck- anyone can do it, all they gotta do is hit the guy with a touch attack, and I'd even rule that he wouldn't get his Dex...

    Grappling Clarification Needed

Grappling & Attacks from the Outside I had a recollection re: attacks on grapplers from those outside, but had the DARNEDEST time finding the ref. Turns out they did a good job of hiding it. It's ONLY mentioned in a TABLE. What it boils down to is that for RANGED attacks, when firing into a...

    Grenade-like Potions

Sort of... Except I'm talking about a single-spell potion that is JUST like a normal potion (limited to 4th lvl & below, etc) except that its effects can be triggered externally by self or others as opposed to being only applied/ingested by the user. Thanks for the help, though!

    Grenade-like Potions

I've been considering adding grenade-like potions to my game. The first thought was to have cure potions that could be hurled at a target, affecting it on impact. Of course, the same principle could be used for any other potions. The risk'd be that if you miss, the potion (most likely)...

    gauntlet of rust

I'd say that if you're attacking with a Gauntlet of Rust, you're not attacking to damage your opponent. I'd rule it as a touch attack that deals no damage but affects the armor only, which means you don't include the armor bonus when determining the defender's AC.

    natural weapons & AOO's

got a ref for that? Has that been Sage'd or is there a page ref for that ruling just so's I can feel better about it?

    natural weapons & AOO's

Does a creature (in this case the girallon) with Atk 4 claws +12 melee (1d4+8), bite +7 melee (1d8+4) get four attacks on an AOO, or any other attack aside from a full attack? The front of the MM says the full attack action is needed to get both the primary and secondary attacks, but I'm not...

    Ring of Invisibility

and it's NOT imp inv Remember- it's not IMPROVED invisibility, so you'll pop back into the light any time you take a hostile action, just like the spell. Don't know if I'd allow a ring of imp inv in my game. If I did, I'd make sure there were pleny of monsters with Scent, Blindsight &...

    Whilst enchanting.....

Well, the caster level required is based on the prerequisite spells for the individual item, not on how many times per day the item can be used. Bear in mind the caster levels listed in the DMG are "usual" caster levels, not minimum- and the caster level can be set anywhere between the minimum...

    learning new spells

Mastering Another's Spellbook There are rules in Magic of Faerun (if you're using non-core books) for mastering the spells in another's spellbook. We use this rule in our campaigns as it helps to offset the somewhat high costs of scribing new spells into your spellbook.

    Fear: A Party's Worst Enemy?

GREEEEEEEEED I'm playing a PC in a campaign that's got a similar problem- no one has faith in the NPC's that are sending us on these missions (they're students at a university- they got sent to clean up a house bequeathed to the university for 'detention' and ended up facing a whole mess of...

    Handling Large Games

Our game has been growing player by player until now, we've two more who want to join- bringing the player count to eight. We've already had some issues with players cancelling for a session, players arriving late, cross-talk on the table while the DM's talking, etc. When the subject of two...

    Starting PCs with ECL?

ECL & HP I play a nioman character who's yet to buy off his negative levels and I do have this to add re: ECL- facing CR3 monsters with lvl 1 hit points means you spend a lot of time unconscious on the floor. So, while the ECL char's have an advantage to begin with, they are (and always will...
