Actually strictly speaking it's completely true. Come and Get it had two distinct target lines, just that one was never written anywhere in the power. The first was the close burst 3, pull all enemies within the burst you can see effect. The second was a standard close burst 1, which was not...

    Rule of Three - 04/18/11

Cleric is called the Templar and Wizard is the Arcanist.

    Feats & Fighters

There is no change here, the original power only worked against creatures you can see. Being blinded was one of the most effective ways of completely stopping a CaGI fighter dead. Edit: So it never really worked against invisible enemies or if you were blind in the first place. I admit though...

    Heroes of Shadow

Yeah that feat is called Spirit Poison. I just had a look, unless I am missing something as well it is indeed Dark Pact Warlocks. So unless you're some bizarre hybrid or you start as Warlock or Assassin, you can't even make this work in the first place. It is of course a complete trap feat and...

Class Compendium Feats and Weaponmaster is out!

I am also hoping the wizard simply picks up the spellbook upgrade and the new cantrips as welll.

    Feats & Fighters

My initial reaction was based on the fact the pull isn't guaranteed anymore and the attack isn't as good (as it's just a plain 1[W] without strength). But now that I've discussed it more, the fact it targets will and is a weapon attack means it's pretty damn reliable on hitting anyway...

Class Compendium Feats and Weaponmaster is out!

I would be more harsh on those feats as yet more useless cruft in the system, but I'm curious what update to base class features the "Arcanist" might get. I wouldn't be surprised given that wizards have everything, to see this get some improvement in their own class compendium article later. Of...

    Feats & Fighters

I must need my crazy bucket again, because I misread the Templar power swap as a wizard (for some reason - or thought there was an equivalent). Actually the templar swap is one of the worst deals. Lose healers lore and another feature for a domain? Maybe for some of the better domains... Well...

    Feats & Fighters

Those are coming later on actually. This month was just the weaponmaster/arcanist/templar (basically the feats relating to classes from Heroes of the Forgotten Lands). The next one I think will be the whatever druid/whatever ranger/whatever slightly different ranger. I think.

    Feats & Fighters

I wouldn't be surprised to see it take over a core class feature of the Ranger, then get deleveled and possibly even restricted to 1/round. This prevents Half-elves abusing it, frankly that's 99% of the abuse twin strike gets is Half-Elves and Revenants with Half-Elf soul scumming it up taking...

    Feats & Fighters

It's a huge nerf and they also nerfed the epic level 1. Force the Battle also got a massive hit with the nerf stick as well. Actually overall I think the fighter has had a bit of a decrease in power with this. I have to admit that I need to take a moment for some schadenfreude from another...

Class Compendium Feats and Weaponmaster is out!

Here is a direct link so you can go and get the feats. I'm not sure if they are behind the paywall or not. I would suspect not but I won't say for sure. After a quick look I totally called that you would need multiple feats for a wizard to pick up mage school benefits (from a discussion ages...

    D&D 4E I'd like to put 4E on a diet!

I must say that from these discussions I have gained the word "Cruft" in recent months. It has become one of my favourite words to attempt to work into day to day conversations with unsuspecting individuals.

    Heroes of Shadow

Actually that's possibly one of the worst possible choices you could make, unless you later take the feat to negate poison immunity. Most of the creatures resistant to necrotic damage - notably undead - are immune to poison. So all you're doing is turning your non-damaging effects into something...

    Heroes of Shadow

I am still extremely disappointed the book provided no support for necrotic as a damage type or a feat to negate necrotic resistance. That was my one big expectation that the book would fulfill. Was that a deliberate decision, or were such feats written and then cut? I also wonder why the...

    Rule of Three - 04/18/11

My interpretation is that they can prepare to spend a heavy feat cost to get very little (Weaponmasters/Rogues getting power strike or backstab) or a very high feat cost to get something that is situationally good (Slayer/Knight/Thief).

    D&D 4E I'd like to put 4E on a diet!

I'm not sure about #6 because monsters have been increasing in complexity (not decreasing). Especially as better design now allows monsters to function as they should, instead of being sacks of HP with a terrible single melee basic attack (I can't even recall many post MM3 creatures that are...

    D&D 4E What I want from 4E DnD in 3 simple steps.

MM3 design mocks defensive characters anyway, because they often end up being auto-hit by certain effects (Auras/zones, powers like Gloomshroud and Acidic Blood) or monsters can still have miss effects to ruin their day (Damage or effects). Defensive characters can be rapidly ground down...
