    No AoO w/o Combat Reflexes?

When you use the withdraw action, you can leave the first square of an area without provoking AoO's per normal 3.5 rules. The sentence refers specifically to a situation where you: 1) have used the withdraw action to leave 2) have already left your first square 3) you are still in the...

    No AoO w/o Combat Reflexes?

Use the rules from Trailblazer. If you enter or move around in a threatened area - no AoO. If you leave a threatened area - AoO. All the other AoO rules still apply.

    Rake: Clarification on useage

Rake attacks usually come in pairs - they represent attacks from the hind legs of the creature. Normally, when a creature attacks while grappling, it is limited to one attack at -4 to hit AC. If the grapple came as a result of an improved grab, then the one attack comes from the appendage that...

    Challenging Challenge Ratings...again

Does the change to EL affect the tables that measure the difficulty of an encounter based on the difference in EL? Is EL-4 still a moderate encounter, or has it changed to EL-8?

    Yeth hounds and damage reduction

Spells will damage it, not just silver weapons. Each hit from a non-silver weapon needs to subtract 10 from the damage. It is not 10 subtracted from total damage each round.

    Anything since the Beta?

There's not enough information about the final rules to make a character. So far we've seen a sample fighter, sorceror, and ranger. These give hints as to what's changed from beta to final, but that's about it.

    House Rules

The feats seem a little monk-centric, and since I don't see very many monks in my campaign, it's hard to comment on what's here. I'm not fond of ability score increases or size increases, so IMO those feats are too powerful. Got any more? :) How about house rules that aren't feats?

    The Sandbox And The Grind

Likewise!:) I would say that this is one element that brought about a de-emphasis of the use of wandering monsters in 3e and 4e. Of course wandering monsters are a staple of the sandbox campaign, but they were supposed to represent a negative consequence of making too much noise, getting lost...

    The Sandbox And The Grind

Sandbox games in 3e and 4e have one issue in common that isn't necessarily present in sandbox games using older editions of D&D - looking at a foe doesn't give the players a clue whether the encounter is easy or hard. In AD&D, if you saw an encampment of 300 orcs or a huge dragon, a big red...

    Cloverfield - The Immortal's Handbook 4E to 3.5 Conversion

You shouldn't need to convert its ability scores - the plus number in the parentheses is the sum of the ability score modifier and half the creature's level (+18 for a level 36 monster). The +18 will be replaced by the monster's BAB in 3.5, so you can keep all the ability scores the same. So...

    alternate d20 damage rules

Version 1 looks more interesting. It allows the daggers to keep up with the larger weapons, otherwise the DR for armor will counter the dagger too much, which is a common complaint with armor as DR. Version 2 gives no incentive to wield a dagger.

[Chess] Best ways to improve your skills?

I would memorize two openings (one for black, one for white) from a book, then play them multiple times against a computer, using the book to respond to whatever the computer did. Try to understand why the book recommends these moves by analyzing how you can take advantage if the opponent does...

    About Reveille

The whole thing seemed too coincidental, considering Reveille means wake up. Maybe he thought (mistakenly) that it would be a good setup for April Fool's?
