WotC Rumor: OGL will not be supported starting with One D&D

This sums it up pretty much. I do remember folks using the 3e OGL to release 5e content before their official SRD was released because it took some time to release it. Even if we don't get a new SRD you can still create content using the older SRD's. As for the OP, I have seen the youtubers...

    Weird: The Al Yankovic Story

Wow, I had never heard of it before, oh dear! I do have some blind spots I guess (not really a tv guy, more into movies).

    Weird: The Al Yankovic Story

Seems to me that each device attempts to have its own exclusive content, but then it bleeds over into the cross-platform apps. So Roku has their own tv streaming device, but their content ("roku channel") can theoretically be seen on other devices via apps. Back to Wierd Al: I used to have some...

    Weird: The Al Yankovic Story

Oh, that explains it. Wow there are a lot of similar devices to stream on your tv now, we kind of stumbled onto the Firestick by accident so these kind of things pass under the radar for me. Roku, SkyQ, Firestick, I don't even know how many others... I can help hook up your electronic recording...

    Weird: The Al Yankovic Story

Thank you everyone @Nylanfs and @Morrus I tried the website but its unavailable in the UK as well. I use a Firestick so SkyQ doesn't seem to show up in the app store, but NOW is available so I will see if we can give that a try.

    Weird: The Al Yankovic Story

Yeah @Morrus I checked the NOW app and it's just not available in the UK right now at all, I can't find it anywhere, not even on prime. Al did say on twitter that Roku is working on it though so I guess we will see.

It seems like Roku is unavailable in the UK, I guess I will have to wait to see it. Hmm...

D20 Modern is 20 years old!

Oops! Ya got me, this shows how my memory can be far from perfect and I might finally be getting old. From my memory I always think of the bonus feat every other level as a dead level because feats were all over the place in D20M. Don't mind me... keep talking folks.

D20 Modern is 20 years old!

The D20M system worked well in some respects, despite flawed design choices like too many dead levels among classes. I had a lot of fun however running a lot of different types of games and genres both for new players and DnD players who wanted a break from fantasy games. Not to mention that...

Wired Magazine Article: How Therapists are using TTRPG's to help people

Here is an interesting article I stumbled across. Therapists are looking into using role playing games to develop new therapy techniques. Wired.com Therapy and TTRPG's It reminded me of an older article I read years ago about how TTRPG's have also helped individuals who are incarcerated. San...

Costs of a kickstarter project (transparency)

Well I think its a good idea. And I think your expectations are fair. I think you might be onto something there, provided the tiers/ buy ins are reasonable for both the backer, the publisher, and the artist. I think it could be one possibility for more involvement in projects by backers, rather...

Costs of a kickstarter project (transparency)

Yeah I did think about that, stock art is easier to find for some genres more than others, which can help pad out your art count. Some books use less art, but once yet get into 300+ pages you start to get walls of text, and images help to break this up, making it easier for readers, just a...

Costs of a kickstarter project (transparency)

I have seen several kickstarters offer this option, and some charged a few hundred (200 and up I think), while others somehow charge up to a grand for custom characters made by the artist to fit the genre and setting. However, these are for standalone character portraits, I have yet to see one...

Costs of a kickstarter project (transparency)

I have to concur with the cost estimates, I can't remember the original post, but somewhere on the forums a while back someone else posted their own estimates and they were much lower (5k$ for art budget, 12.5k$ for a writer and i think 2k for an editor), and your estimates are much closer to...

Positive Influence of Foreign & Independent Films in Mainstream Cinema

I got to see a bit of the IFC back in the day, I think that's where I first saw George Melies' "A Trip To the Moon." (France, 1902). Good Stuff!

Positive Influence of Foreign & Independent Films in Mainstream Cinema

And the technology side keeps evolving. One good recent example is Alita: Battle Angel, which actually has a legacy of two decades of waiting to come to fruition. Based on Yukito Kishiro's Gunnm (1990-1995), James Cameron was introduced to Gunnm through Gillermo Del Toro, and he then bought the...

Positive Influence of Foreign & Independent Films in Mainstream Cinema

Absolutely, when "bullet time" was a really big deal at the time, having come from the Matrix, it is now looked at as old gen technology compared to today's capabilities, while wirework is still used and is now quite common in action films. Films like Kill Bill & The Matrix that incorporated...

Positive Influence of Foreign & Independent Films in Mainstream Cinema

Fair enough. For example Terry Gilliam is an American director, but he primarily directs British films, using a UK crew and filming in the UK. There are certainly exceptions to every rule.
