What is the cleverest thing you've done to get out of a bad situation?

so one time, we were outnumbered by a bunch of kobolds, and i took out my flasks of oil and just started lighting everything on fire. whew, did my quick thinking that time ever save the day.

    Wacky stats

i just rolled some similar numbers for a new character a couple days ago: 9, 13, 15, 17, 5, 14 the good rolls weren't as good as yours, but the same idea. i decided on a dwarf cleric with these final stats: 15, 5, 16, 9, 17, 11 i've never played a character with such a low ability score...

    Battlefield Adventures

i'm also waiting eagerly with anticipation. i don't see how they could publish a book like this without a mass combat system. and i'm curious to see what kind of prestige classes will be designed specifically for warfare.

    Good source for geography photos?

if you just want to see photos, any clip art site should have tons. for example, here's some shots of australia, and for more general pics, this was the first hit from google for natural clip art also try google images. it should be easy to find more pictures than you could ever want.

    rogue: the obsolete class?

i finally got my hands on complete adventurer. i really like it. especially all the emphasis on skills and new equipment. so, i feel like now that the complete series is done, that with all the new classes, it's made the traditional rogue obsolete. or, rather, whenever i think of playing a...

    D&D Mechanics in Fiction

imho, the mechanics of your world are in the end really of little import. what matters is that you have a solid, gripping, and original story with unique characters. once you have that as a foundation, and you know what kind of story you want to tell, go ahead and start constructing the world...

    the village rocks

so i watched the village last week. i really enjoyed it, even though i know it got such terrible reviews and didn't do well at the box office. in fact, the more i think about it, the more i enjoyed it. better than signs and unbreakable, in my opinion. but i expect it's not to everyone's...

How much time do your players spend making magic?

your campaign sounds like a lot of fun. having time off to go home and make magic items sounds like a bit of a bore, in my opinion.

Complete? ... The basic classes are still best.

well, it sounds like everyone's found something to be happy about. that's good. for myself, i could be very happy with a core only game as a player (though i agree that the prc's in the dmg aren't very interesting), but as a dm, it's nice to have a lot more options to generate ideas. and it...

    looking for npc template

i'm looking for a good, simple npc template in excel that let's you quickly put in all the information you need to have at hand for your npc's. doesn't have to do any calculating, though if there's one that can, that's cool to. i just want to be able to keep track of all my npc's in a digital...

What two domains would your cleric pick?

like some others said, it always depends on the type of character i'm going after, and the campaign. i just came up with a chaotic good dwarf cleric of kord with strength and luck. but if were picking my favorites, i would probably go with animal and luck.

    [Full] Avatar of Chaos

    here's a character for your perusal: rolls: Roll 1: [2], 4, 3, 2 = 9. Roll 2: [1], 5, 2, 6 = 13. Roll 3: [4], 4, 6, 5 = 15. Roll 4: 5, 6, 6, [1] = 17. Roll 5: 2, [1], 1, 2 = 5. Roll 6: 6, 6, [1], 2 = 14. i used the irony mail roller, and if you need verification(as if i would make these rolls...

    obscuring mist

a stupid question, i'm sure, but it's been bugging me for a while. does obscuring mist obscure the sight for the caster as well as everyone else, or is he/she immune? thanks

Does Knowledge (Nature) work on another plane?

or you can allow them to make the check as they normally would on their own plane, and if the succeed, then they can come to the conclusion that they would have normally come to on their own plane, and tell the player that this information may or may not apply to the new plane. maybe it's the...

    How to knock someone out..

i think this is a pretty good way of handling it. if what you are looking for is a realistic method to knock someone out, you should bear in mind that our idea of the "knockout" has been shaped by television and movies, where one punch can knock someone unconscious. this is totally...
