    GMs: What's your latest module?

Just finished Goodman Games' Dungeon Crawl Classics 3, The Mysterious Tower. Prior to that were an adventure and a side trek from Dungeon. Currently in the middle of J D Wiker's Depths of Rage from an old Dungeon. All of the modules are modified from the original to fit into my "low to...

    Do your players use counterspell?

Never even heard a player contemplate counterspell, let alone use it. I think the couterspell mechanic is way too clunky. Instead of having to have the exact spell memorised, perhaps there should simply be a spell family called Counterspell, that can be spontaneously cast, at each spell level...

What do you think when DM introduces old PC as an NPC?

I'm glad to see that, so far. most voters are willing to give the DM the benefit of the doubt. I have experienced the worst case scenario as a player, when the DM introduced an NPC who was double the level of the PCs, and who "had" to accompany the group on their quest. The game became quite...

    "A ten-foot wide hallway stretches thirty feet and then . . ."

Once again I will date myself, but mapping is a big part of the game to me! When I play, I map just about everything, dungeons, caverns, large buidlings, even sketches of overland travel. I still have maps from games that I played 20+ years ago! When I DM, I don't force the players to map...

    Fireball or Lightning Bolt?

It's kind of sad how many people are worried about maxing damage or AoE or what have you...a sign of the times, I think. I picked fireballs simply because I have had characters tossing them around for the past 25 years and they have the most opportunity for creating havoc, especially the...

    Dead Thread

Many of the settings have been important, but Ivoted for Greyhawk which was the first campaign setting in which I played D&D, 25 years ago.

SAVE STAR WARS d20! SIGN OUR PETITION to WoTC!

I don't play Star Wars, but if it is anything like D&D, why can't you simply create your own specs for starships?

The Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth - your experiences?

Played it 23 years ago, during first year university. I remember the teleporters and of course the final battle in the sphere-shaped room. I was playing a psionic elven fighter/magicuser/thief and when we killed off the vampire and the xe-yi and xeg-ya, the rest of the party, mostly fighter were...

    Does anyone play True 20?

No. But I am hoping to get my hands on the rules and possibly convert my D&D campaign to True 20, if I like what I see.

The extreme proliferation of magic in D&D

I agree that magic is integral to D&D, but I find that 3E has created an environment where the proliferation of powerful magic runs rampant. In my campaign I am trying to reduce the amount of magic level, but it really is a lot of work to try to rebalance everything. Keeping the PCs from gaining...

    Anyone not like PDFs?

My biggest dislke with PDFs is that they are almost all formatted for printing, not for reading on-screen. I can't stand having to scroll up and down to read a page written in two columns. This is gets even more annoying as the length of the document increases.

    Would you buy pre-made campaigns?

I would definitely consider buy a "campaign in a box" for the same reasons as everyone else, lack of time. I would prefer smaller boxes though, instead of running from level 1 to 30, I would rather see multiple products that might take the PCs from 1 to 10, a different product from 11 to 20...

Best Love Songs (and "your" songs)

Walked down the aisle to a piece of classical music whose name completely escapes me; my brother sang Hold My Hand (Hootie and the Blowfish) after the ceremony while we signed the register; and our first dance was INXS' Never Tear Us Apart.

    Favorite Animal Companion

I chose wolf from the list, but I would probably go for domestic cat, as Wombat said, easier to explain in urban settings.

    Your vocabulary

8/10 on the quiz (missed fiacre and killick) and I agree that this quiz is not a real test of one's vocabulary. I think my "known vocabulary" is larger than the average person's, because of all the reading I do. However, as others have said, when I speak or write I rarely use any out of the...

1st trip to GenCon-Looking for tips

Sean Reynolds has a page on attending GenCon here. He hasn't updated them in a while, but other than a couple of references to Milwaukee they are still on the money. The link to the Something Positive cartoon on bathing is extremely improtant. I attended GenCon 2002 and I could not believe the...
