Which is better: Offense or Defense?

All offense and no defense leads to a lot of deaths and very short combats. Eventually it comes down to winning initiative which is too chancy. You want enough defense that you won't go down in 1-2 rounds before someone can bolster you or you can withdraw.

    OA qn: maho-tsukai spell list

As long as you have at least one level in sorceror you can use spell completion items on the sorceror list but you only use your sorceror level for level checks.

    Sneak Attack...Them Darn Halflings :)

The FAQ says only the part above 50 is supernatural movement. The example is spd 70 w/o boots of striding and springing and 100 with. DR is a passive ability and thus requires no action to use, triggered when conditions are met. HiPs allowed as a free or move action can be much more easily...

    Sneak Attack...Them Darn Halflings :)

HiPS is a standard action while the regular hide ability can be done with a move. Its the difference between using an Ex ability and a Su ability. If you attack while using HiPS and you are standing right there in plain sight using sniper is not an option. Sniper is only for hiding as an Ex ability.

    How does Advancement really work?

This is the sort of creature that kills someone and then dies. It has far more offense than it has defense. It deals around 22 damage with its bite which would rarely miss and trips almost automatically. It's a buff hill giant which is CR 7 so this must be CR 10. 2 of these would take down an...

    Unbeatable Colossus?

Isn't any +7 enhancement weapon (total 11+) an artifact and thus not subject to the anti-magic field? I've seen artifacts weaker than +7.

    Sneak Attack...Them Darn Halflings :)

The ettin even has two heads. It could easily observe the halfling while functioning normally with its other head. I wouldn't let the halfing rehide within 30' of the ettin.

    "Mind's Eye" PrC's Balanced?

I liked the original slayer better. If you continue the PW power pt progression you have far far less PP than the original way. You have more powers known but you don't have the variety of having psion and PW powers. Psions have the only healing powers.

Cost of creating a Ring of Stoneskin

Not only is the 10/+5 negated by +5 weapons or creatures but 10 pts of damage is the tiniest fraction of damage thrown around at those levels.

Lightning Lance? Anyone know how to create this?

At the point you could generally afford the lightning lance you could be firing that +3 composite mighty +4 longbow 4x per round for 1d8+7 (10 within 30 ft) with a x3 19-20 crit. That's probably just an average not counting using +3 GMW arrows or presige classes that enhance archery vs doing...

Cost of creating a Ring of Stoneskin

Don't forget that the material component cost adds 12500 to the price. +1 padded armor of invulnerability costs 16k and gives 5/+1 DR all the time so triple the cost to have 10/+5 3x per day with a 210 hp/day limit is not really out of line.

Please rate Large and in Charge

5 levels of dragon disciple and being large has a tons of benefits like reach and str + con. Stand Still is different and difficult to use. Your opponent has to start in your threatened area and trigger an AoO for you to use it. The opportunities for its use are few and far between. If you had...

Blindness, Darkness, And the Ability to Cast spell

Firebrand and fireball are two entirely different spells. I would not allow the pinpoint targeting of fireBRAND into darkness anymore than an arcane archer could hail of arrows into darkness. No one disputes that you can detonate a fireBALL into darkness.

    Wacky HD/ECL problems

This inconsistency was avoided by making the minimum ECL equal to the HD of the creature. I don't know when they decided to make a 32 HD creature ECL 25 but 4 HD creatures ECL 8. I'll admit that 1 HD was automatically 1 ECL was unfair as not all HD are created equal.

    Defenses against Level Drain

A templar with the negative energy aborbing armor from DotF is virtually immune to level drain. Just FYI. I was working towards this combo.

Please rate Large and in Charge

Reach weapons are only effective if the creature in question has only a short reach. Picture a dragon with this feat or a giant. It isn't just limited to ogres and such. Dragons almost never miss and they do damage in the 40's when gargantuan or colossal. I've considered taking dragon disciple...

    Resizing Magic Items

Gee, not only can you resize something you can completly change its type. I wish this +5 dagger was a +5 spiked chain, *poof* or I wish this mithril chain shirt +3 was mithril full plate +3 *poof*

Are there costs tables for things such as steel, lumber, or coal?

There is a castle builder's guide but it doesn't go into such detail. Upkeep is measured as % of total value in gp. Building time and cost are adjusted by availability of certain resources. Castle creation is just a large, expensive item using item creation rules. The rules don't go into detail...

Please rate Large and in Charge

This feat is arguably the most powerful non-epic feat in the entire game. With combat reflexes you are unapproachable in melee combat unless you manage to get surrounded to the point that you can't move away from your opponents. Deflect arrows limits your exposure to ranged combat and SR would...

    Are +skill items overpowered?

So you find everything hidden...if it was impossible to find before, it was the same as not existing. I don't see the point in placing things that cannot be found unless I thought at some later date when they had a search bonus item they would come back and take a second look. Is it so bad to...
