For what it's worth the book says that it's a "style of abbreviation similar to that found in ancient latin manuscripts". And it is difficult to read, you'd have to know latin well enought to guess words. A bit like a crossword. As for this line: I can figure out who the first three names...

Not much I'm afraid. The Fafhrd and Gray Mouser stuff gets worse the more recently it was writen. This is tragic really. I didn't like Knight and Knave at all. The best stuff (which is as good as sword and sorcery gets) is the earliest stuff both in terms of the writing date and the chronology.
