Shield, Mirror Image, Tiny Hut, Dimension Door, and Teleportation Circle. One spell at each level that excels at helping the wizard escape from dangerous situations. Preparing Tiny Hut is really nice, because the actual casting time is 1 minute. Then you have time to analyze the situation...

While there are nimble dodge-heavy martial arts, the stereotype (to me) has always been absolutely brutal training above and beyond other class stereotypes. Only Barbarian shares the same stereotype, with its "struggle to survive every day" theme.

Monk. It's the single most rigid class in the game when it comes to which attributes you need, which makes it irritatingly limited in the character concepts you can create with it.
