D&D 5E (2024) Using AI for Your Home Game

For that last bit, my friends and I don't even try to take credit for it. We'll happily tell the group afterwards that it was a chatgpt riddle.

D&D General The purpose of deity stats in D&D.

I do quite like 5e's take where greater gods are beyond the power of mortals to meet let alone defeat. Any of them you end up fighting it is the avatar. Lesser gods though, in their case you're fighting them. There might be more to it, but it's something like that.

D&D General What is your most prized Dungeons and Dragons Product?

Planescape campaign setting was another favourite of mine, sadly I left it at my dad's too long and it got thrown out

D&D General The purpose of deity stats in D&D.

I think it might be because it's a pretty cumbersome method for determining the power of gods. It was an interesting read but I wouldn't really want to integrate it into my games unless it was incredibly reduced in scope to make it more useable.

D&D 5E (2024) Using AI for Your Home Game

No idea about @ECMO3 games, but ours have used AIs for some images to set a scene or show a character. Some AI art is actually pretty good and certainly great when you're trying to find an image to show what you're trying to describe but you juat can't find the right image online. I've used it...

D&D 5E (2024) Using AI for Your Home Game

Pretty much how I use it, sometimes I'll ask for a dozen or so adventure ideas and then develop an adventure from there. I find it fun to use to see where it ends up when developing rpg stuff, had a lot of fun making a campaign setting.

TSR The Shadow Elves of Mystara

I think fire vs air has been common in various editions due to the djinn vs efreet animosity. This was probably just an offshoot from that. Speaking of the elements though, Mystara does have a few additional elementals like the horde, and ever growing earth elemental made up of composite insect...

D&D 5E (2024) Using AI for Your Home Game

Yeah, it'll be pretty cool, I can see solo players using it a fair bit. I think what people don't realise is that you can have both an AI DM and have people running their own game without it.

D&D General What is your most prized Dungeons and Dragons Product?

The RC is probably my most treasured as well, it's what started me on dnd and has provided me with ideas for later editions through the years.

D&D General [+] What is your favorite non-WotC D&D setting?

I loved the Hyborian age d20 setting, had some cool mechanic ideas in it but otherwise I love the portayal of the world in the stories and I felt this was a great adaptation of it.

Playing in Person Is Just Better (for me)

The ease of making tokens and maps for online play is definitely a +, it worked great during lockdowns.

    Bad Faith and Sealioning

Thanks for posting the cartoon. Whenever someone mentions sealioning I'm always like "WTF is sealioning?"

    D&D 3.x The 4E We Didnt Get.

I think that with the math calculating all the various bonuses for weapons and armour, you could likely make those bonuses inherent bonuses gained as you level up. It was an option in 4e though I'm not sure about 3e.

    AD&D 2E Let's Read the AD&D 2nd Edition PHB+DMG!

I probably would have read "any" as "any race able to be wizards" so dwarves would be excluded. But then I grew up reading norse myths where dwarves were very much magical and so like to include the option for them to be mages anyway. If people are interested in 2e eratta, Ive found this thread...

D&D General Dinosaurs in your campaigns

I typically don't use them, which annoys some people online who want to turn into a t-rex. If I do use them then I'll use like: Creatures from a lost world area. Standard creatures in a prehistoric era game. Beasts of burden in games where scaled humanoids are dominant (so lizardfolk...

D&D 5E (2024) Using AI for Your Home Game

The problem with this argument is that it is either/or. If we have AI that can sort out our laundry and dishes (which is pretty easy anyway with washing machines, dryers, and dishwashers), it doesn't mean we can't have AI to write and do art, she'd still be able to do her own art and writing and...

What games, currently, have your interest?

One option for DL 5th Age decks is to google the deck online, you might be able to find a sheet you can print out, then you can load them into protective card sleeves, some are sturdier than others which ahould let you and your group play. I did this for the marvel saga game a while back, the...

Quick, while everyone is focused on the 5.24 PHB...

My first RPG that I can clearly remember playing was Advanced Fighting Fantasy, it was a natural move from the pick a path books that they'd released. I used to play it at high school back when I was 13 or 14. I can't really remember the games or even what I played (probably an elf) but I...

D&D 5E (2024) How many magical rings can a single character wear and use?

I think with attunement, they removed the need to limit the number of rings, wear 3 if you have the attunement slots.

Playing in Person Is Just Better (for me)

I much prefer in-person than online. I found online to be great for lockdown, and it's excellent for one shots, but for an ongoing campaign I much prefer in-person. I quit my friend's online campaign because it was only online (had to be, players were from different areas in NZ and aome were in...
