    D&D 5E (2024) You're not planning on getting 2024 D&D? Why is that?

    D&D 5E (2024) You're not planning on getting 2024 D&D? Why is that?

@Aldarc I like 4e, but disliked it at first. There are things I love about it (great tactical game, cool toolkit for improvisation, it equalizes the board, there's lots of chance for synergies in the party, rituals and martial practices, themes, the warlord, hybrids...) but to get there I had to...

    D&D 5E (2024) You're not planning on getting 2024 D&D? Why is that?

The irony is that I think they are moving the game partially into the direction you want. What has turned me off the worst is all of the needless codification that is being going. But that is the funny irony, it is too much codification for me, not enough for you.

D&D 5E (2024) Command is the Perfect Encapsulation of Everything I Don't Like About 5.5e

But then they wouldn't be able to program it into an automatic VTT would they?

D&D 5E (2024) Why is Ritual Caster gated?

Maybe I'd leave just the first and third benefits. Edit: and cap rituals to first level at first.

D&D 5E (2024) Why is Ritual Caster gated?

I'm not sure about the details. Haven't had the chance to see Treantmonks videos. Can you give me a list of what it does?

D&D General Developing a Homebrew Pantheon: Another word for "Saint?"

Or Rishi, Muni or just add "Sri" to the name. Cool, but maybe strays too far fron tge request in the OP to not tie it too much into an existing RL religion.

    D&D 5E (2024) You're not planning on getting 2024 D&D? Why is that?

It is in an odd spot, isn't it? Too similar, yet too different in a bad way. It changes too much and too little. No -or few- actual changes I'd like, while making plenty of changes I don't like. I was planning to buy the DMG because of the Greyhawk stuff, but I'm no hurry. I have the original...

    D&D 5E (2024) You're not planning on getting 2024 D&D? Why is that?

I'm on the opposite side. I might eventually run 5.5 -for profit-, but I'm not interested at all as a player.

D&D 5E (2024) Learning to Love the Background System

Bingo! I dunno why they are so obsessed with avoiding the obvious. Just factor this stuff into point buy/rolling and be done with it.

D&D 5E (2024) Learning to Love the Background System

That already applies to about half the official backgrounds in the PHB.

D&D General Interview with Chris Cocks on D&D AI, the OGL, and more

I would add more than just the world irrevocable. Something like "and legally impossible to be revoked, removed or taken away in any form or under any legal jargon term."

D&D General Interview with Chris Cocks on D&D AI, the OGL, and more

It would help. A new OGL that remained open and was made just to close loopholes would allow reuse of previously existing OGC in perpetuity. After all, the two true versions so far already include a clause stating something like "you can use OGC by selecting any valid OGL license".

D&D 5E (2014) So, I kind of want to stay with 2014 rules. What are my longterm options?

One, I'm they won't cannibalize sales of their new edition. Two, they don't consider 5.2 a new edition so they won't offer 5.0 as legacy content. Just like you can buy 3.5 books or revised 2e as pdfs, but not 3.0 or OG 2e.

D&D 5E (2014) So, I kind of want to stay with 2014 rules. What are my longterm options?

I wanted ToV to be that solution, but it isn't. For one, it also moves subclass choice. And from what I see, it is too focused on exotic new classes.

D&D 5E (2014) So, I kind of want to stay with 2014 rules. What are my longterm options?

I'm seeing I wasn't very clear. That's not the problem. The problem is, I want to stay with 2014 rules or move to a ruleset that is an improvement without falling into the 'sins' of 2024. As a DM I need a reliable source for rules to keep giving to future players. As a player, I need a safe...

D&D 5E (2014) So, I kind of want to stay with 2014 rules. What are my longterm options?

Having a reliable long-term source for rules, a way to induct new people and replace books that wear down. Plus, why not? a way to have support? For example, if I want to recruit people for a 2e game, I can direct them to for gold and glory and splats can be bought in pdf for relatively cheap...

D&D 5E (2014) So, I kind of want to stay with 2014 rules. What are my longterm options?

Ok, let me explain myself. I've seen enough of the rule changes, and while I like some of the changes, I don't like the rest of the changes and don't like the changes I don't like more than I like the changes I like. I'm not exactly boycotting the new not-edition, for example I plan on buying...

D&D General Not the Wicked Witch: Revisiting the Legacy of Lorraine Williams

You really sound as if you thought the OGL was a bad thing... In general, I'm not sure why you are so focused on being mad about the Buck Rogers deal. Why was it a crime for a woman to use her personal property in a way that could prop up other part of her personal property in a way that would...

D&D 5E (2024) Is anyone going to use the new 2024 backgrounds?

Care to be more explicit? I don't exactly follow.
