Virtual Table Top With No Internet

I just did a quick write up with pictures on WolfhillEntertainment (Facebook) about how to use Photoshop to create a “fog of war” by blending two images together. This system allows the Game Master to uncover specific areas of the map as the players move around the environment. I use a big...

Do you design worlds according to fantastical physics?

I grew up playing in an era when nerds ruled the RPG landscape, and as such, craved physics. Magic, as a previous poster said was just "Energy" changing states. Ghosts were just peoples energy trapped on the material plane. Arthur C. Clarke — 'Magic's just science that we don't understand...

    Back after about 29 years

Welcome home! I felt exactly like you did in 2015 after my hiatus. Going from AD&D2E to 5E was quite a change.

    Kris' all new miniature thread

Very impressive painting, and an even more impressive use of cardboard. I've made cubes, jellies, and puddings with a hot glue gun, but this puts my creativity to shame. Keep it up!

    Archetypes

It seems like I need to adjust my understanding of the 5e rules. I didn't realize the level of diversity the backgrounds offered. It seems like the background defines the character more than the class now. thanks for the input.

5e questions regarding Rate of Fire

Well I guess I know how to start a thread that stirs the pot haha. I was just curious about ROF. At least we had a colourful discussion.

    Archetypes

I think you are taking my confusion as complaining. Like the title of the thread says, I am referring to the 3rd level archetypes provided to the class. Thief/assassin/arcanetrickster. Skills such as second-story work go against the character iam trying to build. Do I just ignore that part...

    Archetypes

makes sense lads/ladies. I guess iam just coming from a time when you put % into the skills you wanted or used. never did backstab with that character. quarterstaffs were way more useful at triggering traps when they couldn't be disarmed

5e questions regarding Rate of Fire

That's what made the character so interesting in 2e. +1 hit with Halfling throwing trait, Dex bonus to hit, and a ROF of 3/2 with a weapon specialization. An platoon of Halfling slingers suddenly becomes formidable.

    Archetypes

You cant play this character because at level 3 you are forced to pick either a Thief/assassin/arcane trickster archetype. None of which are conducive to the character I described

    Archetypes

I just recently got into 5e coming from AD&D2e. When you reach 3rd level you get to pick a archetype which steers you down a more specific road. This seems to be very limiting from what I can tell. I've always liked playing a dwarf locksmith. by name he was a thief, but he was always played...

5e questions regarding Rate of Fire

Good day, I have played AD&D 2e for years and recently "upgraded" to 5e. One of my go to characters has always been a Halfling fighter. Sure when imagine it at first it seems silly, but then when you consider a sling carrying little guy who specializes in that weapon you start to see huge...

Take an Adventure in Dystopia with RIFTS: Vampire Kingdoms

I've always liked the RIFTS setting. The game mechanics were a bit much but how do you go wrong with juicers, glitterboys, and psydogs! The Palladium books always had amazing artwork which really brought the world to life.
