Joss Whedon Allegations: The Undoing of the "Buffy" Creator

I care so little about who creates the stuff that I enjoy, that I only learned that I did enjoy stuff from some of those people mentioned here when I googled them. Sure the actors are front and center when I watch a show, but directors, show runners, these I hardly register

Critical Role Critical Role show kickstarter update: Backers have to get Amazon prime to get the show

But the multi-billion dollar company didn't run the kickstarter of communicated to their fans. That was CR who later partnered with the mega corp. So it CR as the junior partner wants to pay for some such promotions for their loyal fans they're free to do so. But that is none of Amazon's business.

Microsoft to purchase Activision Blizzard for $68.9 billions

MS just wants IPs, not people.

D&D 5E (2014) WizKids Announces Largest Tiamat Miniature Ever

Finally got mine. And customs were much cheaper than I feared, only 93€. Will take some pictures later.

    WotC Can we salvage Toril?

Because while you have them, newer player don't. And while they could buy PDFs of the old books, these are exactly that: old. 20+ years old in most cases. That alone will keep many current players from purchasing them. And ingame they are even older. More than 100 years outdated

    Spider-Man: No Way Home *spoilers*

Never experienced that ever. Don't know whether this is a US thing, but at least in my corner of Germany it isn't done

D&D General "Red Orc" American Indians and "Yellow Orc" Mongolians in D&D

But who is "they"? WotC certainly does give a %$#@!. They want to earn the most Profit, nothing else. So as long as people keep pestering them they'll just shrug and do the least to avoid a shitstorm and go on with business as usual

D&D General "Red Orc" American Indians and "Yellow Orc" Mongolians in D&D

That depends what you define as "absurd". For some the removal of "always evil orcs" might very well be such an absurd thing that they would have never seen coming down the line when OA got it's disclaimer. And the latest errata removes negative descriptions for Beholders and Mindflayers. Where...

D&D General "Red Orc" American Indians and "Yellow Orc" Mongolians in D&D

That is given both the quote and the preceding non-quote text too much weight. It says nothing about what you ascribe to it. Gary is quoted that he was inspired by this to create D&D and then the non-quote says that the following list are those books plus a few more that inspired the designers...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E Survivor - Deities (Part 1: Forgotten Realms) Selune Advances!

She's still supposed to be good. But in one of the Drizzt novels she reincarnated the deceased Catti Brie and send her back with the divine verdict that all goblins, even children, are evil and need to be killed. Early 5e or mid-transition from 4e to 5e time Put it in as a joke about all the...

Chauntea 2 - 2 = 0 it's the of the world as we know it Lathander 21 Mielikki 21 + 1 = 22 old-school 'all goblins are evil and even their children need to be put to the sword' Oghma 17 Selune 24 Tymora 20 Tyr 21

D&D Movie/TV Chris Pine is making $11.5 million for D&D movie

Being german the only draw a german actor in a hollywood production has is too see how 'cringe' it's going to get. OK, Daniel Brühl did good, but for every Daniel we 'export' a dozend Till Schweigers and Matthias Schweighöfer. So you decide if the net contribution is positive. :)

D&D General "Red Orc" American Indians and "Yellow Orc" Mongolians in D&D

Yes, we should really concentrate on getting back to the original topic of which M&M's are the best. That's the real topic, isn't it? :)

D&D General "Red Orc" American Indians and "Yellow Orc" Mongolians in D&D

I personaly believe the opposite: If it had kept the old lore with it's new mechanics it would have gone much better

D&D General "Red Orc" American Indians and "Yellow Orc" Mongolians in D&D

That is ignoring that WotC was comming straight from a phase where they had strengthened the later view tremendously and then chose to tear down all of this and go (race really) down the opposite direction. Catti-Brie got reincarnated by a good goddess and carried with her the divine verdict...

D&D General "Red Orc" American Indians and "Yellow Orc" Mongolians in D&D

And yet the general reception on this boards and in the reviews was nothing but praise. Even from some of the very same reviewers that now praise WotCs face-heel turn and the end of the "always evil orcs" less than 5 years after VGtM. Which as you noted had WotC take extra effort to emphasize...

D&D General "Red Orc" American Indians and "Yellow Orc" Mongolians in D&D

The toxicity was coming from both sides back then. The outright glee not only about the slaughter of a sacred cow but specifically how people who liked that sacred cow were rebuffed by losing something they happend to enjoy was very present on the pro-4e side. Just as much as the "it's...

D&D General "Red Orc" American Indians and "Yellow Orc" Mongolians in D&D

Yes. But that doesn't exculpate parts of the 4e crowd from being just as wrong and toxic as parts of the pre-4e crowd

D&D General "Red Orc" American Indians and "Yellow Orc" Mongolians in D&D

See, that's an opinion presented as fact. How can you objetively meassure the 4e Abyss and Orcus being a corrupted primordial as to being better than the legacy D&D Abyss and Orcus being an evil mortal soul that clawed his way up to demonprince? It's like saying that this strawberry icecream...

D&D General "Red Orc" American Indians and "Yellow Orc" Mongolians in D&D

In this case both were. I remember the flame wars here on Enworld and other boards all too well. The crowd celebrating the sacred cows being turned into hamburgers were no better than the crowd defending those cows. No side was pretty during this time.
