Lords of Madness (Aberration lore book), Draconomicon(Dragons), and Libris Mortis(Undead) are all top tier in regards to like lore/story stuff for said Monster Types.

Races.

It works for the Simpsons.

I've also heard that the 4E Book of Vile Darkness does an excellent job of describing the idea of evil characters and what not as well.

I just HATE the fact that these are coming out at the end of next year. That's my only complaint so far.
