Savage Tide AP not intriguing me

Very good question. My answer depends on the strictures of the design. What I really want to do is spend the word count on the adventure and not on the stat blocks, but I want interesting, unique foes. No, I like longer, more complicated battles, but in moderation. I think the bulk of...

Savage Tide AP not intriguing me

They aren't significantly more complex. They are significantly cheaper in word count. The latter is my point. --Eric

Savage Tide AP not intriguing me

Part of the problem is that the CR system falls apart once you require too many monsters. In other words, I am much more suspcious about the "real CR" of an encounter with 8 CR 12 creatures than I am for 1 CR 18 monster. Adding more combatants to an encounter tends to slow down play, make the...

Savage Tide AP not intriguing me

In many ways, it's a function of the monster selection in the Monster Manual. (This is a point I made a while back in a thread that shall not be named. This is the condensed version.) Dungeon is always pressed for space. A big chunk of space is taken up by stat blocks. The only way to avoid...

Dungeon 140, 141 and 142 have no FR or Eberron content

Come on James, you can admit it: darts are used for deadline enforcement. ;-) --Eric

FR Sages, is there any place in Faerun for a gothic realm?

You could substitute Barovia for Darkhold and Sunset Vale. If you want to keep Darkhold in your campaign, just move Barovia to the northern or southern end of the range. The valley north of Llorkh is pretty isolated. That might work as well. --Eric

Incorporating Dragon Magic in to my Realms campaign

It was not a "big retcon." I worked from existing (if obscure) Realmslore from 1e, 2e, and 3e. The Dragonfall War fit naturally into hints of an ongoing war between Bahamut and Tiamat tin the Realms hat was already in print. --Eric

    Thunder peaks in forgotten realms

You should also look at the write-up of Augloroasa in Cult of the Dragon [2e], plus some new info in Dragons of Faerun. --Eric

Need Help Raising a Temple of Bahamut

So, not to toot my own horn, but Power of Faerun lays out the process to turn yourself into a religious leader, using the Leadership feat as a base. Aside from the examples, it's all applicable to any game world. Look at the Religion chapter and the Appendix in your FLGS. --Eric

Bestiary of the Realms II released

Yet to be done. Work on the bestiary happens only when there's nothing else on the list, unfortunately. Plus, Tom does most of the work. ;-) --Eric

    Dragons of Faerun

The Purple Dragon Knights of Cormyr are so named for the Forest Kingdom's alternate title, "The Land of the Purple Dragon." As revealed in Cormyr: A Novel ... SPOILERS ... THE purple dragon for which the land was named was a black dragon of such great age that his scales acquired a purplish...

As I explained over on the Candlekeep boards, this is not an error. I was well aware what I wrote back in Demihuman Deities. --Eric

Info from the WotC 2007 January to April Catalog

As Aitaen's co-author on Dragons of Faerun, I can confirm that Eitienne is very easy to work with. Unfortunately, I did have a hard time remembering Iten's email address, which kept bouncing back as "unknown user". Even Eyetun's IM rarely seemed to work. I never could figure out why, but it was...

Shackled City in Forgotten Realms, best location?

The Age of Worms conversion guide I did for Paizo impliciltly acts as a conversion guide for part of Shackled City as well. As I put the Spire of Long Shadows (mentioned on the Shackled City map) in the Chultengar (eastern reaches of Jungles of Chult), you can derive a location for Cauldron as...

    Demonic Lore II

In the Planar Handbook, page 162, the Fountain of Screams is detailed. This planar touchstone is an island of black glass in a vast sea of acid. This gives a slightly different twist to the table entry for Layer 245: The Scalding Sea. (See FC1: Hordes of the Abyss, page 156.) --Eric

Dragons! I want to know all about the Dragons of Faerun. And if someone could slip in some Old Empires lore in the process, that would be way cool. ;-) --Eric
