    Should point buy be discouraged?

the only quick way to get over having to watch the players role their ability scores is to have the dm roll up all the numbers and hand them out to the players to assign to their abilities. That's the honest super quick method. Or the excel sheet thing the guy a couple posts up mentioned...

    D&D 3.x 5E solve me this: 3Es and 4Es biggest problem

I'm not sure what they meant by "Everything is Core". It almost seems like their say "You Have to Buy Everything to Play". Please tell me they didn't say that. foolish_mortals

Which edition will have the largest representation in the 5th rules?

I'm going to change my answer after reading that mearvle said the game will be good and simple. That tells me that 3rd and 4th won't be so heavily used and it will be stuff from the simpler 2nd and back era that will be showing up. That's ok. foolish_mortals

D&D 3.x Things 3E Did Well & Should be Kept in Some Form

guys, they can't keep anything from 3rd or 4th at this point. If the stated goal is to keep things simple than we have to look at 2nd as the valid starting point. foolish_mortals

    Teach me to fish, dammit!

if they added the stupid dragonborn guys to the game then they can add the Flumph as a player option. I don't care where it shows up as an option, "Flumph Triumphant" or "Flumphs With Swords". One of the two should be great supplements and will help revive this almost dead franchise...

D&D 5E (2014) "The next iteration of D&D is a game on its own"

it would be best if they had a solid system for the rest of Dnds life. That's the best route at this option. The never ending stream of editions just ends up shrinking the dnd base. If they feel the need to make a new game, then do it but don't suddenly brand it dnd to help its sales. We all...

    Should point buy be discouraged?

I don't know why you think rolling stats takes alot of time? There isn't a whole lot of math involved, just roll, add up and put in their appropiate statistic. Point buy seems much slower to me. Not that it really matters, neither one really should be a 3 day process. foolish_mortals

D&D 5E (2014) "The next iteration of D&D is a game on its own"

I like this merble statement. Maybe things won't be so weird this time around. foolish_mortals

Should D&D Morality be Less PC?

I think it'd be funny if they'd do a campaign setting where the females had revoted against the males of their society and took over. And through their arcane magic had turned them into weak dwarf men. Occasionally they let the males become normal again to handle exterior threats like Orcs...

    No WTF? Moments

I've had plenty of those moments where things don't seem to make sense. Last week I learned that Fire Elementals can be hurt by fire in 4.0. That was a WTF moment. I don't know if Money Cookie thinks that's a terrible mistake or has talked himself into thinking it's brilliant. The 5th...

    Should point buy be discouraged?

I hate to say it but elf witches way seems more appealing to me than sitting around and calculating my characters. Makes the process produce some pleasant surprises for me as a player. foolish_mortals

D&D 5E (2014) "The next iteration of D&D is a game on its own"

I hope the flumphs who have the time to help them playtest/write the new dnd game can come here and post about their experiences. I hate reading these dorky statements from these game building toads like money cookie that don't really tell me anything. Better to hear what the players are...

An Essay to Wizards of the Coast

that's terrible that 4th editioners are going around calling you dumb. At least you know that there are only going to be a couple more years of that. Goodness, what's happened to this thing called dnd. Never heard of that happening before. foolish_mortals

    Should point buy be discouraged?

I don't ever remember seeing a character that had sucko stats from rolling the dice. We have to ask ourselves if it really matters to have super high stats or not. I had a cool dwarf fighter once who had decent stats. Still bit the dust in combat. That's life in dnd though. Made a Paladin...

    Should point buy be discouraged?

you don't find having every player maxing out certain scores and mining the not so important ones bland and boring? I find the whole idea of everyone following the same strategy one big yawn. I like a little individuality in my players. that said, I haven't decided if he's right. foolish_mortals

    Should point buy be discouraged?

flumphs, curious day yesterday, watched a guys review of Advanced Players Guide on youtube and he had a good observation: point buy for abilities lead to min maxing of characters. Which in turn leads to overpowered pcs. He stressed that you do point buy so everyone is treated fairly in the...

Pathfinder 1E is a big Pathfinder surge on the way?

its a flumphy day... instead of "4E defectors" it should say "3.X loyalists"? foolish_mortals

An Essay to Wizards of the Coast

thanks for this great story. Maybe for 5th edition we can have a editions storybook where people talk about their experiences with Dnd over the years. That'd be fun to read. foolish_mortals

imbalanced classes: the special preserve of the NPC?

flumphs, When classes get devloped that are way beyond the norm in terms of power than an ordinary class is, should it not be allowed only for NPCs? I was musing about this over an old NPC class I saw in dragon where they said it really was only for NPCs. what do yer think, foolish_mortals

Pathfinder 1E is a big Pathfinder surge on the way?

I'm not sure why they chose PaffFinder. There are other games out there. Maybe it has something to do with staying with the Dnd family. I'd probably shop around too if the game I was playing was going to be canceled and there were similar games out there that were going to be well supported...
