D&D 5E (2014) What kind of XP awards does your group currently use in 5E?

Other: old school inspired, mainly treasure gained for xp with only minor amounts given for combat.

    D&D 5E (2014) Attunement

As far as potions go, may I suggest handing out less than the random rolls indicate if it is getting in the way of your groups fun? Also page 140 in the DMG has a neat rules option for potion miscibility mishaps.

D&D 5E (2014) Warcaster, polearm master and learning to love the optimizing?

Clearly against rules as intended as verified by the sage. Tell him to rebuild or move on as it sounds like his style doesn't mesh with the rest of the group and that there is only pure roll playing going on with this character no narrative, nothing interesting ,therefore not a player I would...

D&D 5E (2014) Is the Cleric really one of the ‘core four’ anymore?

Clerics are definitely back to core in 5e. The basic rules has them as the only in combat healer and that is a big deal just as it was in 1e-3e. Keeping a party member in the fight is a huge advantage, especially in a game that has no penalties to bouncing back up from 0hp ( it is like being a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Which non-Realmsian setting for you?

Any of the great settings described by Magic the Gathering would be fresh, plus you know just go across the hall and use IP you already own.

D&D 5E (2014) Moon Circle Druid Play Report

So far there is actually a lack of CR3+ animals if you don't want dinosaurs in your fantasy world, so more variety would be welcome.

D&D 5E (2014) Blog of Holding Takes on Treasure Distribution and 1 XP/1 GP

Remember it is not some new strange idea it is quite familiar to those who started play with OD&D or AD&D. There is a interesting retrospective on how it came about in the 70's here: http://muleabides.wordpress.com/2009/10/08/wine-women-and-song-experience-points/ I see it as a strong component...

New 5E Adventures Coming From Goodman Games

A PDF being about half the price as a physical product per page seems not too far off to me.

D&D 5E (2014) 5e, bringing the importance of environment back to the front?

Haven't seen it myself yet, in fact 5E has begun to suffer a little bit from "roll-I hit-7 pts damage" for the melee types which is pretty dull. Now in 4e I saw the caltrops and burning areas and such much more often as there were a ton of alchemical items available. Right now 5e is in its...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Harmless Suplex?

Grappling can be pretty fun in 5e. In terms of narrative the grapple has to be the start of the move with the follow up attacks being the actual slams, pile-drivers etc. Once a fighter type has multiple attacks the target could be grappled, proned and attacked numerous time at advantage all in 6...

D&D 5E (2014) What technology do you own that you are willing to bring to the table?

Feels like a poll like this hasn't been done in a bit. Dungeonscape has made me curious. Please select any and all that apply. What technology do you own that you are willing to bring to the table?

    DMG Preview 4: Artifacts!

Did I say definitely? No, I said "invite optimism" when one works for a large publisher and is promoting the next giant release it should not be done with "spare time", in fact one would hope it would be reviewed by at least a couple of people before being sent out on even a small team. But hey...

    DMG Preview 4: Artifacts!

Minor it may be but when your preview text "sticky" overlooks editing it does not invite optimism about overall attention to detail. Otherwise looks pretty good depending on what the beneficial/detrimental properties charts look like.

D&D 5E (2014) How did they decide on the mechanics of Polymorph?

Because they forgot the part in 3.5e where they threw up their hands and said it can't be fixed and forgot the lessons of 4e too? In all honesty it should probably be two spells: Polymorph self and Polymorph Enemy so the save vs death aspect doesn't have to be balanced with the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Sell me on Wizards

I assume your DM would not let you make the change after everyone learned the rules? As a DM and player we usually allow such changes when coming to a new edition.

    D&D 5E (2014) Sell me on Wizards

I can see the Sleep spell being difficult for some groups. Need to be aware of what type of character others are playing and what the tone of the game the DM perfers to run is. Then again a little inter-party moral conflict is fun for some groups. I guess if you are not willing or are unable...
