    Practiced Spellcaster

That's not what I asked you. :) Yeah, I wasn't looking for more examples. Although they can be lumped with Practiced Spellcaster in the pile marked "Can't/Won't Apply in All Cases or Liable to Send Conflicting Messages." It would be nice if these types of feats all had a warning, like you...

    Stupid epic level question

Unfortunately, that text in the 3.5 DMG hasn't been errat'ed, so it's official (even if it doesn't make sense). And the ELH does mention monster HD. I think you may be confusing class levels with character level. First, Savage Species (page 5) says that monsters have character levels (& that...

    Practiced Spellcaster

You don't read a lot of D&D message boards do you? ;) There have been lots of discussions centering on holes in logic that are still supported by RAW. Flavor text vs. stats have been at odds quite often.

    Practiced Spellcaster

I get that. I really do. :) Your comparison made no sense to me, so I was trying to show another one. I failed. I can't think of another one that would make sense, off the top of my head. Hyp, do you really think it makes sense that a character can select a feat because the prerequisites don't...

    Stupid epic level question

I can almost get behind that. Except that it flies in the face of the fact that ECL isn't supposed to determine when epic BAB & saves are gained. By that passage, a ghaele eladrin PC gets really, really, really screwed. :uhoh:
  6. saucercrab

    Practiced Spellcaster

That's not a fair comparison. Practiced Spellcaster is apparently useless no matter how a single-class fighter chooses it. Weapon Specialization can be chosen so that it is useful. A fairer (more fair?) comparison would be: a fighter/wizard taking Practiced Spellcaster (cleric) vs. taking...

    Stupid epic level question

Can you please explain how it's not specifically addressed, but that it is clarified?

    Practiced Spellcaster

Didn't think of it that way. In that case, the feat either needs an additional prerequisite, or it's flavor text rewritten. And, after reading up on Nonabilities, it seems the formian queen is getting screwed on Initiative. At least she has a +20 to hit with scorching ray.

    Practiced Spellcaster

Hypersmurf, Maybe the writers just assumed that a character taking the feat would already have a spellcasting class. As it stands, the prerequisites don't include needing to have levels in a spellcasting class. (Wait, has the feat been errata'ed or FAQ'ed?)

    Stupid epic level question

Hmm, I just checked the FAQ, Errata & 3.5 Update booklet, & it seems that what I spouted isn't actually stated. I guess it just makes sense to me (& after believing something long enough, it becomes truth). :o It doesn't state either way about what happens when you combine monster HD & PC...

What's a "unique being" for purposes of Gate?

Oh, okay. If your beasties have gate as a (sp), then they can ignore the alignment descriptor, right?
  12. saucercrab

    Stupid epic level question

AFAIK, HD determine when a character starts gaining epic BAB & epic saves (21+ class levels, or 20 monster HD + 1 class level, or any combination thereof; monster HD never use epic advancement by themselves). ECL determines when a character can start getting epic feats (while still fulfilling...

What's a "unique being" for purposes of Gate?

:shrugs: I dunno'. Just wanted to know what PC was basing that statement on. Although specific demon lords & archdevils could have the ability...

What's a "unique being" for purposes of Gate?

Why can't a fiend do that? I thought only clerics & druids couldn't use spells with opposed alignment descriptors.

    Chameleon PrC & Psionic Focus?

Unless the chameleon had to pick her sorcerer spells when leveling in the PrC, & couldn't change them. Although I didn't indicate it, I was thinking that the character would have to pick her powers when she levels up, & not be able to change them, & be able to pick only from the psion/wilder...

    Chameleon PrC & Psionic Focus?

So, has anybody considered this? It makes sense to me that psionics should be an additional selection for the Chameleon's Aptitude Focus. I was thinking about a power level (powers known, power points per day, etc.) somewhere between fist of Zuoken & psychic warrior; maybe max'ing out at 10th...

Moment of Prescience Spell (Luck 8/Sor/Wiz 8)

I just think it should scale normally (or like it was originally supposed to in CA), & allow the warlock to voluntarily lower the spell level to use metamagic SLA feats. I don't think warlocks should be forced to have to buy EB essence & shaping invocations. Mind you, I did think some were worth...

Invisible Blade (CW) and Bleeding Wound

Using a kama defeats the purpose of the Invisible Blade PrC, neh? :) Diirk, No prob'. UltimaGabe, Yup, IIRC, it's called greater wounding, & is used by the Kelvezu Tanar'ri. Gawd they're a cool monster; even the Baxa pic' looks kinda' neat. :D

Moment of Prescience Spell (Luck 8/Sor/Wiz 8)

Yeah, I figured that, or else I wouldn't've made that claim to him. But I did want to be a wizard that absolutely went first in the duel. ;) I'm happy for you, but I loathe that errata. Well, the part about the EB being a mere [1st level-equivalent spell if you're not using invocations] anyway.

Invisible Blade (CW) and Bleeding Wound

Diirk, A monk can't normally flurry with kukris. IIRC, there's a feat called Martial Flurry that would aleviate this.
