    DnD Economy

Taken in reverse order. I don't think you really appreciate the income or worth of land. I've worked on how much and landed noble might make, but I'll instead refer to Expeditious Retreat Press' A Magical Medieval Society: Western Europe. In the example they give in that book, an adventuring...

    The C&C poll

A friend of mine likes it, so I have played it. On one hand it was nice to have a very simple system and quick moving game again. On the other, they got rid of 3.x stuff I thought was a vast improvement such as unified XP chart. I just see no real reason to play it over either 1E or 3E as...

    The Sources of D&D

You are correct. I seem to have mistaken it for The Statement of Randolph Carter. However, there are plenty of Deep Ones in Shadow over Innsmouth.

    The Sources of D&D

I think you're confusing 'Charles Dexter Ward' with The Shadow over Innsmouth.

    DnD Economy

This pretty much goes for any RPG. Few, if any, RPGs, even modern ones, deal with supply and demand or other such factors in economies. They only provide a list of equipment with set prices. The only instance I can think of would be Traveller which has resell values for trade goods that are...

    DnD Economy

I have nothing to argue with his deginition, but your interpretation of them. Stage three happens when you have fiat currency where there is a difference between actual and exchange values not when you have cheques or letters or credit that are backed by actual commodities. That you accept a...

    DnD Economy

That doesn't matter. What matters is what is the unit of credit described in. Is the credit backed by a certain amount of comodity goods? Coinage? Or arbitrary unit of money backed by some power? You can issue letters of credit in any of the economies described by the OP.

    DnD Economy

Well, the D&D world is pretty much completly in stage 2, as far as PCs are concernred. Unlike the real world, there is an excess of coins, probably from all the past empires that have fallen and past ages of dwarven and elven manufacture. Stage 2 is just stage one but the coin provides an easy...

They also took off their helments, revealing their hairstyles, thus becoming names NPCs with descriptions. ...and are they walking the wrong way in the last panel?

Names of fantasy/medieval articles of clothing.

There is the chaperon which is the head and small cape contraption you see on medeival peasants. Later they started wearing it as a hat and it became a complicated headgear over the centuries. Then there are capes and cloaks for foul weather. Then you have hose for both men and women for...

How Dangerous is your campaign world?

Somewhat dangerous, but depends where you are living. In civilized areas, you pretty much have to worry about bandits and the like. In the wilderness, which there is lots of it is fairly dangerous as monsters live there as well as things like stirges and orcs. Not so dangerous as to wipe out...

    Compare oWoD w/ nWoD

I beleive I quit buying their books before that ever came out.

    Compare oWoD w/ nWoD

I bought and read the rules of the core books up to Mage. All this is IIRC as it has been years since doing so, and I never actually played the new system because we had an oWoD game going and none of us were interested in the new one. That's just it, I don't think they've come up with...

That old flash lingo. Thieves' Cant revisited.

Well, most examples are British. Rhyming slang for example. However that's just a substitution code. This code would change as once it got too well known, it wasn't a code anymore. The same problem with any theives cant. Once it becomes common slang, it stops being a theives cant, so the theives...

    Oots #463

My guess is that Miko and O-Chul are still alive. Even 20d6 with a bad roll for damage and made save would pretty much give you that, and Rich is fine with such usage of rules and convient lucky rolls. Miko probably doesn't become a blackguard by otherwise will be a pain in the ass and if she...

What do you think D&D is missing?

Chase rules. Large scale combat rules. Codified rules for for XP due to non-combat challenges.

    Talent Trees & D&D

Why have a another system in addition to one that is already in place? They both do about the same thing and you could have talent trees or feat trees, I don't see a reason to have both since they effectivly do the same thing. Not that I don't think the entire game could use a 4.0 edition to...

    Talent Trees & D&D

I see no advantage of talents trees over feat trees, while they complicate things in the process.
