Another vague-ish comment on Greyhawk from the DDXP... Q: Is there any plan to bring back oerth and greyhawk? A: The stories and worlds of past editions of D&D are just as important to our development and ideas for D&D Next as the rules and other information is. I don't have any more...

D&D 5E (2014) Which of these settings do you want to see for D&D Next?

My favorites have always been Greyhawk & Planescape. But having run Iron Heroes campaigns for a couple of years, I certainly wouldn't mind seeing a new low-magic setting.

D&D 5E (2014) 5e Greyhawk: What could it look like?

I've always felt one of Greyhawk's real strengths lies in it's villains. Arguably, they have the best collection of villains of any setting and leveraging that should be a high priority. Iggwilv Vecna Kas Graz'zt Acererak Tharizdun St. Kargoth Iuz Lord Robilar Eclavdra Lolth (even if FR...

Vancian? Why can't we let it go?

I did like the idea I saw in another thread which tried to address both camps. A wizard has a number of slots which can be filled by either a weaker at-will/encounter version of a spell or a more powerful & useful daily version version of the same spell. An at-will (encounter?) fireball might...

    Kill raise dead... dead!

We used to play a couple of variations on Raise Dead to make it more meaningful. I think the best was a variation whereby life required a life. Someone could only be raised if another was *freely willing* (no charm, threatening, etc) to give up their life in exchange. The cleric then drew the...

Ability Scores - Should they increase?

I also like ability score increases and implementing a +1 to *all* ability scores / x levels will keep the disparities from getting out of hand. As an adventurer it's fairly easy to rationalize improving across the board...

D&D 4E Do you really want Greyhawk and Dragonlance for 4e

Greyhawk & Planescape were by far my favorite settings. Without any real support for either of those settings, there wasn't much motivation for me to get into 4e. Greyhawk is home to the bulk of the most revered adventures in D&D history. Low populations... very PoL... The most powerful...

Who is running a 4E Greyhawk campaign?

I'm also currently fleshing out my 4e Greyhawk campaign, set in the year CY 691. This allows the setting to more naturally integrate the new core races and establish their cultures. I'm also a big proponent of Greyhawk's awesome array of villains, which no other setting can match. - In the...

So is this indeed how it works?

I've seen the Red's stats and there's a fire aura, a rechargable Immolate ability and 2 action points it can spend... It's still going to be a long, epic fight against another dragons of it's level, but that IMO is a good thing. These guys are at the very top of the food chain and just short of...

    Rituals

Notice the requirement for Raising Dead... To perform the Raise Dead ritual, you must have a part of the corpse of a creature that died no more than 30 days ago. So there are going to be fairly mundane ways you can permanently kill off opponents or PCs... :)

    The Failure of Gleemax

I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiments here, the log-in issues, the mods, the general layout of the site. In particular the new "reorganized" boards have created several large messes. I was especially... annoyed when they dumped all the settings not FR or Ebb into a single board which has...

    Daily Art Preview

Agreed. When I read the description that they were Far Realm touched I looked again at the pic and thought maybe they had the wrong image inserted there. I agree they look more like twisted fae creatures with the elvish ears and the almost celtic-like patterns on the one on the left...

How is D&D of any edition realistic?

I'd like to know where you heard that, I don't recall hearing anything along those lines myself. I don't see how 4e is going to make world-building any more difficult than it was in 3e. Building a world is building a world and I don't see what obstacles 4e specifically is putting in the path of...

How is D&D of any edition realistic?

I think most of those fantasy worlds are of it's own making. :D As I've always said, D&D only models one style of fantasy well - itself. However... In 4th edition I'm pleased to see they've given us the tools to better model some of the styles of fantasy that many of us grew up with (most of...

    New 4E ad causing problems

I was actually going to suggest this if there was no other recourse. Hopefully this will be implemented... soon? As Mouse points out, it becomes a little more tolerable knowing this.

    New 4E ad causing problems

This may just be me but that right side banner took all of 30 seconds to start bugging the hell out of me. It's huge and very distracting while trying to read. Thumbs down.

And does anyone know if "ice walk" in their movement rate is just about negating the penalties of walking on ice or is it some kind of quasi-teleport a la shadow-walking?

    Excerpt: Archons (merged)

I definitely like the Frost Shield interrupt ability of the Hailscourge, that'll come in handy to weather the first Wizard volley their way. The adjustable burst Hailstorm should also come in handy when mixing and matching them with other wee beasties. The Rimehammer has a difficult terrain...
