    D&D 5E (2014) Assumptions about character creation

Yep, the imbalance in Crit Role PC stats is incredible (or, at least, in the second campaign, which is the only one I've watched). But, the players don't play to their PCs' stats, seemingly completely unconcerned about the massive disconnect between the statistical characteristics of their...

D&D 5E (2014) How fast do Kobolds dig tunnels?

Funny! But.... As an engineering matter, I suspect the time taken to increase the dimension of a mine is not directly proportional to the increase in dimensions. For example, I presume a tunnel of larger cross section will need more bracing than a tunnel of smaller cross section, which may in...

D&D 5E (2014) How fast do Kobolds dig tunnels?

So, your PCs have enslaved a bunch of kobolds who they will kill if they fail to dig fast enough, have brought in some corrupt locals to oversee operations, and are doing it to make a profit. Nice. Lessons from history suggest such arrangements don't end up well, for anybody.

    D&D 5E (2014) removed

Hmm, the description and stat block contain a number of typographical or syntax errors and the creature design is... interesting. My 5 minute review: The oculon is a floating eye that is Large for no reason, has a Strength of 20 for no reason, and a Wisdom of 30 solely in order to boost its...

    D&D 5E (2014) Dark Sun doesn't actually need Psionics

    D&D 5E (2014) Dark Sun doesn't actually need Psionics

No, no, no. Magic and psionics are different. Really. Like psionics is using your brain to do stuff. Not like wizards. Wait, no, psionics is something innate to you. Not like sorcerers. No, no, let me try again. Psionics is like a mutation. You only get it from being exposed to some...

D&D 5E (2014) Kate Welch on Leaving WotC

A bit late to this conversation, but my 2c. The focus of the discussion around the new player experience seems to have been caught up in the length and complexity of the ruleset. The new player experience has nothing to do with the length and complexity of the ruleset. Let me use an analogy...

D&D 5E (2014) 4th level Bladesinger with same AC as Tarrasque

OP: I have this problem, can anyone help me? Group Mind: Here are some solutions. OP: I can't use those solutions because I won't change anything about the 3P campaign, my session prep or my DM'ing, to address this problem. Group Mind: .... Well, good luck, then. Cheers, Al'Kelhar

D&D 5E (2014) 4th level Bladesinger with same AC as Tarrasque

My warforged tempest cleric w. one level of sorcerer (and hence the shield spell) has been rocking AC 25 since about 2nd level. When he is hit, it's usually a crit. And the bad guys usually target him with spells that require saves instead of attack rolls. Funny about that. Don't sweat it...

D&D 5E (2014) A First Look at Tasha’s Lineage System In AL Player’s Guide - Customizing Your Origin In D&D

Ah yes, played by the amateur thespian in the gaming group who thinks being unable to communicate properly with the rest of the cohort of fellow adventurers they are relying on in actual life-or-death situations will lead to all sorts of humorous misunderstandings and hijinks. About as cool as...

S*t yeah. Little kids are like friggin' monkeys. (Well, actually, they are little monkeys. But I digress). They're really good at getting into tiny spaces, too. Every good adventuring party should have an 8-year-old stashed in their Handy Haversack. Cheers, Al'Kelhar
