D&D 5E (2014) Speculation thread! Vecna? Giants UA?

The more we talk about primordials and dinosaurs linked to giants, the more it makes sense that this is a First World book to me. If the D&D team really just wanted to make "Fizban's, but Giants," I don't see why there is any need to make them so explicitly tied to primordials or dinosaurs. It's...

D&D 5E (2014) Speculation thread! Vecna? Giants UA?

We are going in circles here so I'm going to stop replying soon, but it does seem like the First World is an attempt to re-constitute some 4E lore (much of what James Wyatt wrote himself) into something that also pairs with the new "Multiversal" cosmology that 5E is more recently pushing. Some...

D&D 5E (2014) Speculation thread! Vecna? Giants UA?

Primordials... the folks who lived on the Material Plane before dragons fought them... the prehistoric war that led to the age of mortals... seems pretty First World to me. And James Wyatt also wrote the First World lore too. See, I find this funny because no one thought a giant book was...

D&D 5E (2014) Speculation thread! Vecna? Giants UA?

It doesn't make sense for a giant book. Do you feel like a giant when your dwarfed by your pet?

It's way more primeval themed that GIANT themed. Has literally nothing to do with giants.

D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk: Why We Need Mo' Oerth by 2024

Btw, I know Gygax confirmed Oerth is an alternate Earth, and there are other alternates including Aerth, Uerth and Yarth. Do we actually know anything about the others?

I'd also totally forgotten how inspired the The Black Moon Chronicles was by Greyhawk, and how the author was a TSR employee and dedicated the series to Gygax.

D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk: Why We Need Mo' Oerth by 2024

I'm super impressed with this Greyhawk wiki I've discovered... Greyhawk Wiki The sourcing seems really strong and it has a gallery of images for key NPCs and places. The imagery is very much solidifying Greyhawk as a world heavily inspired by the pulp fantasy of the 70s/80s like Conan, Elric...

Or it's a tease for a future book. Like I said, too early to tell. The big flag for me is the Primeval subclass. It's way more dinosaur/prehistoric themed than giant to me.

    Cartoons as RPG Settings

Marvel has their playtest rules out, and Batman has an RPG kickstarter right now, so there's a couple options for these.

D&D 5E (2014) Speculation thread! Vecna? Giants UA?

This has literally happened before... I remember we were debating the Feywild UA and I was saying "Feywild book" and Parmander "Strixhaven book" and we were both right.

More seriously, I know. I'm just saying that I interpret the elegy to indicate that it was a real place that was shattered into the Multiverse. Maybe it's not, but until this book actually gets announced I don't think either of us can be "proven" correct.

D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk: Why We Need Mo' Oerth by 2024

I'm unsure how canon this map is, but I believe the Draconic Imperium of Lynn is canon and described in Dungeon magazine. Empire of Lynn - Greyhawk Wiki). Very little concrete lore, but there is an order called the "Dragonmasters" and the naming of the Imperium seems to indicate at minimum...
