Forgotten Realms changes - The Orc King novel prelude's 'facts'

Huh. Here I thought you were pointing out his misspelling, when you were asking a genuine question. Well, to answer your question, Abeir-Toril is the name of the planet where the Forgotten Realms, Maztica, al-Qadim, and Kara-Tur settings are on. Originally it was simply named Toril, but the name...

Forgotten Realms changes - The Orc King novel prelude's 'facts'

And what's Toral? And how much more of this thread is going to be consumed with criticizing the spelling of the previous poster? :D Anyway, we don't actually know what Drizzt is talking about when he says something about the disastrous joining of two worlds. Yeah, it could be a reference...

Full circle: D&D now being based on video games...

First place I encountered that was in AD&D 17 years ago. Seriously, the Fighter, Cleric, Thief, and Mage have always been at the core of D&D. When thinking of a "proper" four man party, that's what one thinks of. And there's a reason for that. Because of each of those classes performed a...

    New Design and Development: Pantheon

It's possible. But I imagine that they'll remain mostly as they are, in that they'll be able to fight and kill each other (And the deific rankings appear to be staying, as the only deific realms that survive the spellplague are the ones which belongs to Greater Gods. And in 4E, there is a change...

D&D 4E Rich Baker on his 4e Warlord

Possibly. I'm gonna have to reread that Tomb Under the Toy playtest report to see if that's the case. I do know that the ability used in the playtest pretty much WAS a White Raven maneuver. I remember flipping through Tome and Battle and finding a maneuver which did exactly what the Warlord in...

    New Design and Development: Pantheon

Nine pages in this thread, and I haven't read them all, so forgive me if I'm repeating something someone already mentioned. Anyway, so Bahamut is supposed to be Bane's archnemesis in the generic D&D setting. Wouldn't that be something of a lopsided pairing, though? After all, Bane is a...

D&D 4E Rich Baker on his 4e Warlord

That DOES sound awesome. Methinks I'll be sticking close by any Warlord players in future games in order to benefit from stuff like that. Oh yeah, and best part? "Hammer and Anvil" doesn't sound the slightest bit anime. :P

Ahem! How could you forget Warduke? - War Knight

Another name for the Warlord: Ayran

Nah, you'd tire to quickly if you played that class. Better to call it the U-ran. Nevermind that that's much more fitting for the class concept, which involves others doing the heavy lifting. :D

    Warden

It'd also lead to the inevitable whines of players saying "I don't WANT to be the Heal Monkey!". :( Whereas with Leader, you get the pleasure of waiting for the goof to say "I'm the Leader, so that means you gotta do what I say", at which point you can bitchslap him. :D

Greg Bilsland, I've got my eye on you!

I'm still waiting for more Tomb Under the Tor playtest reports. Now that was a playtest report chock full of crunchy stuff.

    Let Warlord be Warlord

How about... dum, dum dum... Warduke! Anyway, this discussion's gettying pretty tiring. Every single suggestion is lamer than Warlord. Especially suggestions like Herald, which have absolutely nothing to do with the intended class role. The Warlord isn't supposed to carry messages, nor is he...

    Warden

Just because you're classed in the role of a 'leader' doesn't automatically make you the party leader. That's just a term they're using because calling the role "the heal/buff monkey" would suck. As for the name Warden, like Herald, is another name that just does not fit the intended role.

Yet another Warlord name poll: Warrior

Yeah, the only things all these threads have succeeded at is showing that Warlord truly is the best of a nearly limitless number of crappy choices.

    Anatomy of an Apocalypse

No, because the timeline in which I watched Timecop and learned something from it was erased as a result of time travel.

The Spellplague - what do we know/speculate about it?

I'm still not happy in the slightest with the idea of Cyric killing Mystra. Or with Tyr killing Helm in a duel over Tymora. Both of those ideas are mind numbingly dumb. I'm fine with Helm getting killed off, but the way he gets killed is mindblowingly stupid. As for Cyric killing Mystra, geeze...

D&D 4E Bioware working on 4e Forgotten Realms MMO

That was one reason, among many, why I quit WoW. I also despised the way many of the weapons looked. There's this one female guard in Stormwind, for instance, who's holding a sword which is bigger then she is, IN ONE HAND! Ridiculous. God, what I wouldn't give for a good fantasy MMO. Hopefully...

D&D 4E Bioware working on 4e Forgotten Realms MMO

This is funny, cause I was playing Mask of the Betrayer earlier today, and I was sitting here wishing that there was a Forgotten Realms MMORPG. I tried D&D Online, and while it had some things I liked, overall it was lacking. Starting with the setting. I got nothing against Eberron, but for a...
