    Anyone else backed Dragonbane?

I backed but haven’t had the chance to look at the beta yet. Free Leagues stuff is my jam.

What Licensed RPG Do You Wish Existed But Doesn't?

GW’s Mordheim as a mega dungeon style game.

What Licensed RPG Do You Wish Existed But Doesn't?

Peter F Hamilton’s Reality dysfunction series would be a choice for me. Malazan was mentioned up thread. Ironically it started as a GURPS game. Simon R. Greens books, The Deathstalker series, Hawk and Fisher, or pretty much anything else. All are very gameable I think.

Tell Me About Your Favorite Mechanics

I love random character creation in WHFRP 4e. There’s something exciting rolling to see if your a servant, a rat catcher, a wizard, or whatever else. That the system incentivizes the random rolling by awarding additional XP at start for playing the random creation game is a nice bonus.

D&D General Best Adventure Path (spanning 10+ levels) of all time?

I’d buy the newest versions for WHFRP 4e. They are very well done. Each has a companion volume with information about the empire, adjunct adventures, relevant context for the main adventure and more. Plus they (and the whole WHFRP 4e line) are really pretty books.

    Savage Worlds and Deadlands…

Exactly. I’ve tried being open with mechanic, I’ve tried being narrative, it just usually ends up being awkward. I throw a clock out and start filling or emptying segments and let people intuit what’s going on. You can see time is a factor or the number is successes is a factor. You can ask...

D&D General Best Adventure Path (spanning 10+ levels) of all time?

Enemy Within until you get to Power Behind the Throne which looks like a nightmare to run. Masks of Nyarlathotep would be my submission. It’s broken up into chapter that can be handled in any order. Each chapter though is a manageable sandbox of clue following. The 7e version is well laid...

    Savage Worlds and Deadlands…

Short and long term clocks as you would have in Blades. I’ve never been able to smoother transition into skill challenges and dramatic tasks. Clocks just work for better for me and then I leverage raises to add and subtract segments.

    Savage Worlds and Deadlands…

I’ve used SWADE for Deadlands, Masks of Nyarlathotep, Coriolis, Savage Pathfinder, fantasy (pre swade). It’s on my radar to combine with Blades in the Dark and Numenera. Games whose tone and setting I love but whose rules (I like tactical combat) I’m not a fan of. Except clocks. I used clocks in...

    Savage Worlds and Deadlands…

If mapping D&D is your aim I strongly recommend Savage Pathfinder. It utilizes class edges to duplicate the core themes from Pathfinder/3.x D&D. Also the Savage Pathfinder Bestiary I would consider must have for that situation. If your looking for TMNT style stuff Big Apple Sewer Samurai has...

    Savage Worlds and Deadlands…

More….Very good VTT support if needed across all three major platforms with official products. Because it uses dice, bennies, and cards at the table the game has a very tactile experience that I can’t quantify but find I missed when I come back to run it again. Deadlands is very good. The...

    Savage Worlds and Deadlands…

I’ve run quite a bit of SW both Deluxe and the current SWADE. I’ve run it across multiple genres for one shots and campaigns. I like it. Base skill difficulty is a 4. Players roll two dice and read them separately for nearly every roll that isn’t damage or effect based. Dice explode. It’s...

D&D General What are you running?

2023 is the year I finally put GURPS on the table for some extended play. I ran session 0 for my GURPS Nights Black Agents game last week. Session 1 this week. Before that I was running Savage Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous. I’m sure I’ll run some more WHFRP 4e this year as well.

D&D General Are you jumping ship? What will you be switching to?

My first love of gaming is the 3.5/PF1 and I have everything I need to continue to play that game for as long as I want to. I'm pretty firmly embedded in the Savage Worlds ecosystem and like it well enough for short run campaigns and pulp games. 2023 though, is the year I finally bring GURPS to...

Your "In a Perfect World, I'd be playing X" Roleplaying Campaign

I want to be a player in a well run Enemy Within campaign from start to finish. I’d settle for being a player in a mini-campaign of WHFRP 4e. I look running it so much it’s one of the few games I want to actually play. Second runner up would a pulp style Masks of Nyarlathotep campaign.
