    This is a good post because it does get everyone to intrinsically know what the identity of the Battlemage is: A Martial Intelligence Half-Caster that is NOT an Artificer. Edit: Martial as in warrior, not as in the forum non-caster definition.

    This is the solution we've used in my game and it feels really good and not overpowered in-play. Really gives the character a heroic feel while still being as simple as a Fighter with no subclass.
