Raiders of the Serpent Sea - Third Party 5E Review

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback, and thanks! If you'd like to PM me the link for your product on DriveThru, I'll purchase it there and let you know. Alright, friends, now lets get on with "Under the Ash," wherein the PCs find a settlement buried by hardened lava! The motivation for going...

D&D General Dungeons of Drakkenheim & Lairs of Etharis: WotC Adds Third Party Products To D&D Beyond

I'll amend - he does quality work and is a gentleman to boot. :) Congratulations on this achievement and I wish you success going forward, sir!

D&D General Dungeons of Drakkenheim & Lairs of Etharis: WotC Adds Third Party Products To D&D Beyond

Dungeons of Drakkenheim is a fantastic campaign. I did a deep dive earlier this year; you should be able to find it by searching Drakkenheim. No word on Etharis, but I think that's a Shawn Merwin product. I disagree with Mr. Merwin on several aspects of adventure design, but he's solid, knows...

D&D General Dungeons of Drakkenheim & Lairs of Etharis: WotC Adds Third Party Products To D&D Beyond

Nolo contendre. I wasn't trying to start a debate, rather expressing an opinion.

Smart business. Bad for the hobby. Thank God I got into Cyberpunk RED earlier this year.

D&D General Dungeons of Drakkenheim & Lairs of Etharis: WotC Adds Third Party Products To D&D Beyond

I mean, "three and a half testicles" is a fair price from Ghostfire's perspective, so revenue isn't that big of a problem. Creative control, though, is a larger issue. Would LOVE a look at this licensing agreement. Yep, I might be able to get my players on board with running this now.

D&D General Dungeons of Drakkenheim & Lairs of Etharis: WotC Adds Third Party Products To D&D Beyond

That's HUGE for Ghostfire! Wonder what they had to give up to get that.

Raiders of the Serpent Sea - Third Party 5E Review

It is quite limited, but that sort of encourages sea travel, which is what this is all about. That being the case, though, you can get into serious chokepoint territory very quickly, which is in and of itself interesting since it gives you some fun complications. Alright, moving on and still...

Raiders of the Serpent Sea - Third Party 5E Review

:) Thanks, friend! It's actually kind of a baffling decision. There's so much they could have done to integrate these NPCs into the epic backstories. Hrolf, Siddhe, literally any of the clan leaders you meet later on, etc. That's a great remix note! Hello! It sounds like what you're saying is...

Raiders of the Serpent Sea - Third Party 5E Review

Good to know! Alright, let's hop into Chapter 1: Into the Unknown. Look, it was the most Nordic-themed Disney reference I could find, alright? The rough outline here is that the heroes have been hired to an expedition led by a guy named Hrolf. This expedition, set out by the volv (seers, a...

    D&D 5E (2014) [Let's Read] Rambo Cinematic Adventures

Does it tell me how to build my own war zone? Spoiler warning: this will determine whether I buy the book or not... @Libertad - this is a fantastic review, man. I reread it tonight and found like three things I missed on the first run through. Excellent attention to detail, as always!

Raiders of the Serpent Sea - Third Party 5E Review

Glad to have you along for the ride! Always happy to see you, my friend! I remember thinking that, too. I was trying to setup a pointcrawl, and while it gave me plenty to populate the actual points, the mechanism of getting from point A to point B just wasn't coming together for me. Alright...

Raiders of the Serpent Sea - Third Party 5E Review

Hey folks, earlier this year, I posted a review of Raiders of the Serpent Sea to Giant in the Playground forums. Sadly, it got nuked into unreadability by the moderators over there (not their fault, I was posting copies of maps and art and they were concerned with getting sued). So I figured I'd...

    D&D 5E (2014) [Let's Read] Rambo Cinematic Adventures

I've been consistently impressed with Everyday Heroes' approach to design, although they do get a bit condition-happy. However, the system of using Fortifications as reverse-Traps sounds awesome, and I like how they approach the genre. For me, the best parts of any Rambo film are watching him...

D&D General Reviews For The New Year

I tend to avoid books of spells, simply because there are too many options for a critical approach when doing those (do you look at the impact on a class' power budget? The narrative of the spell vs it's in-game impact? Etc). However, I do love me some monster books! Ooh! The One-Hour RPG...

D&D General Reviews For The New Year

Hey y'all, what products are you interested in seeing me review next year? I'm not doing anything on the 2024 rules refresh (mechanics ain't my jam), and I'd prefer to focus on 3rd party products. I like shining a spotlight on creators who could use some more love and don't have WotC's marketing...
