    Pulp Spycraft (FINAL UPDATE!) *Updated 04/15/03*

    The Bad Men who pay me for scripots demand satisfaction and page count. Hopeful update to all three storylines this week.

    Running D20 Modern

    Generally, a great system, but nowhere as "cinematic" as, say, SPYCRAFT. So you may want to keep a few things in mind. a.) High lethality. Burst fire etc. can force a LOT of those Massive Damage Threshold Fort saves. if you want a slightly pulpier feel, slide the MDT to 15 or 20 standard...

    Pulp Games: Forbidden Kingdoms vs Pulp heroes minigame

    M&M made me all gooey. It's a wise purchase -- and expanding it to include inventories and other gameworld conventions so you can play non-supers will be one fo the first projects I have on my upcoming website. Go get it, it's fantastic.

    "Realistic" alternative to Build Robot?

    I replaced "Build Robot" with "THAT MAGIC TOUCH": "THAT MAGIC TOUCH": by spending an action point, the Techie can "take 20" on one skill check for Repair, Computer Use, Disable Device (or any other technology-oriented skill they already have ranks in), but this use still only takes as much time...

    Spycraft --> d20 Modern Conversion

    In my still-coming-together conversion, assume that's part of their training, or give them a free feat -- if they take PFP, that makes sense, if not you can let them convert it to, say, extra skill points or some other "spy training" feat After all, they're not shmoes getting recruited, they're...

    Spycraft --> d20 Modern Conversion

    I'm actually going to write a little article on my upcoming website about this, but for BP and Gadgets points, if you're going to use them: Each level, you gain 1/2 your level in Gadget Points and your level in BP. You can spend up to 2 skill points to either add 2 BP or one gadget point each...

    Pulp Games: Forbidden Kingdoms vs Pulp heroes minigame

    Just wondering -- how'd you use the M&M mechanic in a non-supers game? I want to try that myself.

    Scarred Lands: None Dare Call Them Heroes (updated 12/07/03)

    Ah, Angry Monkey's SH disappeared on the old Boards and was never finished. Sad. Because everyone loves monkeys.

    House rule: Knockouts and the Average Joe

    No, that's not what I'm describing. I'm quoting the description of a common fistfight vis a vis the concept of nonlethal damage as defined in D20Modern. Their idea is that two guys can beat on each other all day without really doing any harm. Okay,I agree. But where I think everyone...

    [d20M] League of Extraordinary Gentlemen -- UPDATED 12/4! NOTHING STRESSFUL GOING ON!

    D@mn it man, I'm two first drafts away from being able to take time off and work on something like this myself. You task me and I will have you! Hmm, perhaps my Plug'n'Play ideas can be compatible with your Plug'n'Play ideas. We will chat.

    Advanced Class -- thoughts?

    Just cobbled together something like this for the Ubantu cloak fighter in my SL campaign -- gotta love SWASHBUCKLING ADVENTURES< eh> I'd watch the blindness effect, though. As somebody with this advanced class probably has some sneak attack levels already, that's pretty damn mean. Maybe a...

    [d20M] League of Extraordinary Gentlemen -- UPDATED 12/4! NOTHING STRESSFUL GOING ON!

    First off, anyone who DOESN'T have the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen trade paperback or hardcover, sell some of your broken third-party d20 supplements on EBay and get it. Now. Secondly, go google the phrase "Wold Newton", and enjoy the geek fun.

    House rule: Knockouts and the Average Joe

    I don't think it's a problem with "I should usuallybe able to knock anyone out in one punch", yes that should require a whackload of training and feats. That's the equivalent of a martial artist's one-inch punch or a boxer. It's more the "two guys can hit each other for three hours straight...

    House rule: Knockouts and the Average Joe

    Oh, no I totally got it, and I like it. I was just commenting on the whole "two people can beat eachother up for a while and not do any real damage" concept in D20Modern. Short of using accumulating damage like subdual points, yours is the best one-shot house rule I've seen. I actually like...

    My Spycraft game again...

    Got "zombie horde" rules up in my Dark*Matter Story Hour, in the Cattle Mutilators story. I'll post them in a bit, got to run for now.

    Using VP/WP and Damage Reducing Armor in D20 Modern

    Not getting into the whole "what's the meaning of VP" discussion, I think that using armor as DR with the D20Modern rules would be more realistic. Whether VP is "not getting hit" (SW Revised) or "dodging, turning a major blow into a minor one, etc." of Spycraft, having playtested a couple...

    House rule: Knockouts and the Average Joe

    I like that rule too. When I read the non-lethal rules in D20Modern, it did give me the sneaking suspicion that whoever wrote that section's never been in a bar fight. If you get hit multiple times, the damage does accumulate, and you do ... get ... sleepy ... must lie ... down .. over there...

    Pulp Spycraft (FINAL UPDATE!) *Updated 04/15/03*

    I believe those come up in the big fight at Mountheim's. You had a few others, but as you pointed out, who can remember some of those names? Yes, it took me a moment to wrap my head around the Texas-shaped Shield. But only you would try to rules-tweak a Texas-shaped shield. :) And for the...

    Pulp Spycraft (FINAL UPDATE!) *Updated 04/15/03*

    PULP SPYCRAFT That evening ... Nadia and Houston peered at the mansion from the back of Furio's borrowed Daimler autocar. "That's a sight, all right," Houston admitted. "Yes, it must be quite a shock, coming from the desert towns of your state, to see a building over three stories tall."...
