D&D General BG3 Massive Spoiler Thread

From a selfish standpoint, I'm obviously sad. Objectively, however, Larian made the right move. Hasbro and WOTC are toxic, especially recently.

D&D 5E (2014) If "Extra Attack" Was A Feat, What Would Its Prerequisites Be?

I will always push back against caster supremacy, and doubly so against proposals that EXACERBATE that problem. The disrespect was 100% intentional. Cope.

D&D 5E (2014) If "Extra Attack" Was A Feat, What Would Its Prerequisites Be?

    It's a question that doesn't deserve a helpful answer.

    D&D General BG3 and 5E Theories. Top 10.

To be fair, certain martials can still use that 1 attack from HM Haste effectively. Hunter Rangers with Volley/Whirlwind (which counts as one attack in BG3 rather than a whole action and thus does not suck), Tiger Barbarians, Paladins with smites to use, mainly. Or anyone with Arrows of Many...

    D&D General BG3 and 5E Theories. Top 10.

Scrapping attunement entirely also really helps.

    D&D General BG3 and 5E Theories. Top 10.

Limits the extra action to 1 attack a la 5e Haste, but still allows 2 spells a round. So turning Haste into a still-busted 3.0 version of the spell for casters, but making it as weak for martials as it is in 5e.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D playtest feed back report, UA8

I stopped taking them seriously when they touted the now-defunct Flex as the best Weapon Mastery.

    Terrible sequels

My comparison is basically: Original cut Godfather 3: Stupid AND very boring. Godfather Coda: Still stupid, but not quite as boring. But most of the stuff that made you roll your eyes in Godfather 3 before is still there in Coda, other than having slightly less of Sofia Coppola's performance.

    Terrible sequels

I'm just glad the director's cut that came out not too long ago dropped the 3 off the title and renamed it Coda. Now we don't have to pretend it's an integral part of the story with the first two. (Coincidentally, Coda is at least a much better paced experience than the original cut, though...

    D&D 5E (2014) Using "D&D 2024" instead of "5e24"

Refer to it as whatever, because I and many others will not be investing in this garbage.

D&D 5E (2024) The Great Nerf to High Level Martials: The New Grapple Rules

That being limited by spell slots thing very rarely works out in actual play.

D&D 5E (2024) The Great Nerf to High Level Martials: The New Grapple Rules

Or the solution could be to give martials more than one way beside grappling to bypass the systems in place, the same way that casters have already had since the beginning of time. That you never thought of that as a solution tells me you would rather keep that caster and martial imbalance in...

    D&D 5E (2024) Wow, 5.5e characters are STRONG!

I'll take that as a win.

    D&D 5E (2024) Wow, 5.5e characters are STRONG!

Incorrect. Full casters can absolutely be gods at both. They have been demonstrated countless times of being capable of being both. That's why they're so much better than non-full casters.

    Character power is not subjective.

    D&D 5E (2024) Wow, 5.5e characters are STRONG!

You are using a data sample of players who don't bother doing basic things like scouting, using divination spells, taking Perception proficiency, to see what enemies might lie ahead.

    D&D 5E (2024) Wow, 5.5e characters are STRONG!

Just as many spells look like they're going to be buffed for 2024.

Guarantee you if I replaced that Paladin with another Wizard the party would be improved. Guarantee you.

    D&D 5E (2024) Wow, 5.5e characters are STRONG!

Paladins are the best non-full caster. Which means they're the captain of the JV team. My point, all along, is that it is unfair to single out Paladins for a nerf, which the 2024 version is getting, when the full casters are literally getting away with first-degree murder compared to the...
