D&D 5E (2014) Can an unseen servant fly?

I wouldn't say so, though a character of a friend of mine turns out to have unseen servants, with benefits. When I asked them why they had unseen servant they said, for massages. It took longer than it should have for me to ask, what kind of massages?

D&D 5E (2014) Can an unseen servant fly?

exactly. "The servant can perform simple tasks that a human servant could do, such as fetching things, cleaning, mending, folding clothes, lighting fires, serving food, and pouring wine. Once you give the command, the servant performs the task to the best of its ability until it completes the...

Then it would act according to the concept of a human servant in a way that fitted with the spells wording. problems include that the gestation time for humanoids tends to be longer than the spell's duration. It's mindless.

I'd imagine that it could work with a spell like healing word.

D&D 5E (2014) Can an unseen servant fly?

At least as a spellbook based spell, I'd tend to think it would depend more on the initial formulation of the spell rather than the ability of the spell caster. Regardless, an aarakocra, with a max move of 10, might be unable to fly. Gnomes and others cast unseen servant with it's current...

Those are fair interpretations probably more for spellcasting than other facets of life and I think that the issue of cover is the more persuasive. On seeing someone/something, if the police etc. asked if you'd done so, then it would certainly be fair to say you'd seen them even if you'd just...

D&D 5E (2014) Can an unseen servant fly?

Yeah, if we were to incorporate realism into the game then we could have the likes of bouncing gnomes... Likewise, a halfling, having half in all dimensions would have a quarter cross-section in muscle to typically account for a lower strength but with an eighth of the weight. As it is 5e...

D&D 5E (2014) Can an unseen servant fly?

Things like kestrels can be simultaneously considered to fly and hover. Things like hot air balloons can be simultaneously considered to fly and float. Things like humans don't.

D&D 5E (2014) Can an unseen servant fly?

Would it break anything? probably not. Would I allow it? probably not. Humans can't fly. Having said that I'd happily let an unseen servant survive without air and walk in the bottom of a lake or fold laundry in a bag of holding. Also, the BoH could provide a great means to transport your <6...

D&D 5E (2014) Can an unseen servant fly?

I appreciated you, veteran as you are, asking the question. =D Set off trip wires? I'd say that was achievable with a Strength of 2. set off pressure plates? I'd say that fits in with performing "simple tasks that a human servant could do".

"The servant can perform simple tasks that a human servant could do, such as fetching things, cleaning, mending, folding clothes, lighting fires, serving food, and pouring wine." When a baseline human servant can't fly, I wouldn't expect more from an unseen servant.

It's worse than some obstacles. In some circumstances, obstacles may at least leave you with visual information regarding where opponents (and allies) are positioned as you make your AoE castings. With fog cloud, you may have even less idea with regard to the placement of AoEs while lack of...

D&D General Magic item traders, cursed items, and hapless buyers or shoplifters

right, and this leaves situations in which there may be magic items up for sale or trade --- within the same worlds where there are ~murder hobos and thieves who often might like to acquire such items. At a minimum, I'd imagine that a shop with a sign saying ~"magic items here" might keep...
