D&D 5E (2014) Why is Hoard of the Dragon Queen such a bad adventure?

I'm currently playing it, and enjoying it, the only issues so far is that it seems to enjoy putting characters in 'impossible' situations. I spoke to our DM and he said it required a lot of work to make it runnable which isn't a good thing

    D&D 5E (2014) Dash

I'm probably being a bit dense (not uncommon for me!!) but how does the dash action work? if a character has a move of 30, and it uses its move action followed by a dash, does it move 90ft or 60ft in total?

    D&D 5th Edition Player's Handbook

5 out of 5 rating for D&D 5th Edition Player's Handbook An excellent book on so many levels. Well presented with great artwork. Its written in such a way that draws you into the world of DnD and brings out a creative spark. The rules are concise and play even better than they read. The...

D&D 5E (2014) Bahamut and Tiamat Minis Released

I love those mini's! I really hope some UK stockists get them.

D&D 5E (2014) Monk Flurry of Blows and movement

Makes sense, thanks guys! its just how we envisioned flurry of blows. I guess the cinematic's fit as well with a move in between tho!

D&D 5E (2014) Monk Flurry of Blows and movement

Hi A situation arose in our game last night where the Monk player wanted to use his attack action to strike a kobold and if he killed it, use his move to reach another Kobold and then use his bonus action from Flurry of blows to hit that one. After a discussion we ruled that it wasn't...

    13th Age 13th Age monsters in 5E

Some great work done already, it looks like 13th age is a good fir for 5e, this fills me with optimism! I'm going to have a look over the weekend about stating up some 5e monsters with 13th age trimmings :) Thanks for the work guys!

    D&D 5E (2014) Dungeonscape no more?

Pretty sad news, I hope the folks at TT aren't too adversely affected. I can only guess that what a lot of posters have said, that Wizards wasn't too happy with the progress of the app, but I'm sure with a little more patience it would've come good, as from my Beta experience they had a pretty...

    13th Age 13th Age monsters in 5E

Exactly! it would be nice for a lot of the monsters to have some interesting tricks up their sleeve. I figured 13th age would gel better with 5e as it assumes play without a grid, whereas a lot of 4e monster powers work around the grid

    13th Age 13th Age monsters in 5E

So I've just finished the Lost mines, and my group loved it, so we will be continuing on. As such I now have to build a campaign (my First 5e one) The system itself meshes very well with my DM style, and I feel prep time is on par with 4e, however I do find a lot of the monsters quite...

    DMG Preview 4: Artifacts!

Well I'm sold! I started off neutral towards 5e, the PHB sent me towards positive, the MM back to neutral (I agree with Paraxis that the monsters were too generic) however the previews of the DM guide so far have me positively bouncing to both play and run 5e (I'm currently running lost mines...

D&D 5E (2014) Deck of Many Things Preview

I don't mind them reusing the art if it means the money saved can go towards some more awesome new art piece, I just hope its not a trend repeated throughout the book. This is for a few reasons, a) I think its one of the better designed deck of many things b) I'm guessing not many people, in the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Monster conversion

Probably a little premature (story of my life!!) as we don't have all the tools available to us yet (DM's Guide) But given users experience of 5e so far, what previous edition has been the most straight forward to port over to 5e? I've a load of prior edition monster manuals and a little free...

D&D 5E (2014) 5th edition Monster Manual: I think the really nice art detracts from the mediocre functionality of the book.

Well having had a few days to digest the MM, I'm liking it. The Layout, design and presentation are superb, its a gorgeous book and an enjoyable read, the lack of a CR list is a bit of an oversight, but I like the idea of a centrally maintained list on the website that can be updated as and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Kobold Preview

if they do appear in the DM's guide then thats fair enough. I still think the kobold is a badly designed monster. I've probably not explained myself very well. I always believe that the crunch is the interaction between the fluff and the games system. In the fluff for the Kobold, we are...

    D&D 5E (2014) Kobold Preview

no need for abuse. What i'm asking for is a few mechanical/crunch examples, an example trap that gives me an idea of how i can use them in game without unbalancing the encounter, and also so that i have a baseline for desisigning my own. Fluff is great and i appreciate it, and it inspires an...

    D&D 5E (2014) Kobold Preview

I don't think anyones asking for a definitive list of all the things kobolds can do. I think people would like a few examples of things that kobolds do that makes them kobolds as opposed to say, goblins, and how these actions interact on a mechanical level with the 5e DnD ruleset. Given that...

    D&D 5E (2014) Kobold Preview

A very valid concern, and i suspect there is no correct any its just individual preference. Me personally? I'd rather see 150 monsters in the style of the Paraxis kobold than 200 of the WoTC one

    D&D 5E (2014) Kobold Preview

I don't think anyone is complaining that they can't make Kobolds interesting, I'm sure we can. But its more a question of should we? I'm sure when the designers of this book play their home campaigns, the kobolds do nifty things, why not list a few of these? make things a little easier for...

    D&D 5E (2014) Kobold Preview

This, this and more this! While I appreciate as a DM we can our own creative twist to any monster provided, it would be nice if the designers had given a few extra options to play with and point us in the right direction. The way things look in the MM right now, I'm not picking up an...
