Magic Items converted from old Dragon Magazines

With an appearance of warm weather, I bring you a fire themed spell and a magic item that will help keep things toasty. These originally appeared in Dragon Magazine #123 in Arcane Lore by Harold Dolan. Fire Mouth 3rd level evocation (ritual) Casting Time: 1 minute Range: 30 feet Components...

    D&D 5E (2014) Polytheistic Clerics

My thoughts have always run in direction. Characters revere the whole pantheon, as does the clergy. Clerics do pick a domain, owing to their personality. I do like the idea of changing up domains. I lean to being able to change during a long rest.

    Chain Devil Crazyness

I really like this idea. A combination of animated objects and lair actions would provide a nice variety.

    Sorcerer Options

I've collected up some of my sorcerer posts and made them available on the DM's Guild. It's Pay What You Want. http://www.dmsguild.com/product/176921/Grognards-Grimoire-Sorcerers?affiliate_id=624945 It includes an alternate spell point system to change the feel of how the sorcerer casts...

Why isn't there an Alchemist Conversion (pathfinder to 5e?)

    Here's a version I like: http://tribality.com/2015/01/07/5th-edition-class-builds-the-alchemist-artificer-metamorph-poisoner/

    Eska, my new homebrew world

Wizards, sorcerers and warlocks have long established histories on Eska. Wizards learn their magic either through academies or through a lone master teaching his apprentice. Warlocks gain their power through pacts with powerful entities, while sorcerers come by their magic naturally. I see them...

D&D 5E (2014) How "optional" are rules like feats and multiclassing?

Personally I'm not a fan of multi-classing. I think that with the right selection of backgrounds and feats you can at least get the feel of multi-classing.

Magic Items converted from old Dragon Magazines

Dragon Magazine #117 was a good one for content for me to work with. In addition to By Magic Masked, there is also a collection of reader submitted magical rings. I converted a bunch of them over to 5e rules, as well as updating a collection of magical rings from Dragon Magazine #82 that I had...

DMs Guild Pay What You Want on the DMs Guild - An Analysis and Explanation

I've got two PWYW up, about to put up a third. Stuff I would put on my blog for free anyway. I'm not in it to make money, or get exposure. I'd be writing this stuff anyway even if just for myself. The few bucks I've made I won't cash out, I'll just use it to support other authors. Interestingly...

    D&D 5E (2014) Magic item attunement, like-dislike?

I like the system, for many of the same reasons already listed. The 3 item limit is definitely a "dial" that can be turned up or down depending on the campaign.

    D&D 5E (2014) Are Rogues mostly archers?

The rogue in my party is almost 100% melee and is probably the deadliest character in the party.

Magic Items converted from old Dragon Magazines

I've now posted my second, By Magic Masked. Following much in the same format as my first, this is from an article that originally appeared in Dragon Magazine #117, and written by Ed Greenwood. It details nine magical masks from the Forgotten Realms.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Monster Conversions. What have you made ?

I've done a bunch. Obsidian giant, allip, urisk, lillend, choker, krenshar, bhaergala, belabra, utukku, dark naga, gigantic octopus, high priest, dark creeper, phase dragon, slaugh, skotos, amorphous blob, dry bones, bloody bones, glasspane horror, ghuuna, asperii, fachan, cantobele, calygraunt...

Magic Items converted from old Dragon Magazines

I'm pleased to announce I've jumped into the DMs Guild and have uploaded my first Pay What You Want product, Airs of Ages Past. An article that originally appeared in Dragon Magazine #115, and written by Ed Greenwood, it details nine magical harps from the Forgotten Realms.

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Psionics and Mystics Take Two

Definitely an improvement over v1. Overall a good structure to build from. I like the focus and various point costs of the disciplines. I'd like this version, with a few tweaks, out to 20 levels. Add in some more Orders, disciplines and talents to flesh it out. Not a fan of the far realm...

    A simple Crit House Rule

    Eska, my new homebrew world

Warforged of Eska I’ve never played or used Eberron, but I love the idea of the warforged. The version in the Eberron Unearthed Arcana released by WotC is completely underwhelming, though. I found a few versions online that I liked, but none I was completely happy with, so I combined my favorite...

    Planar Druid

I like these, and the Rift Barbarians. A fun thing to throw into a campaign whenever you need something from left field to shake things up.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D strategy: now actually makes sense!

That is how both magazines worked. Sure, you'd get a few mainstay articles from TSR staff, but a lot of articles and adventures were fan submissions.
