D&D General "I have played in or run a D&D campaign set in Greyhawk." (a poll)

My early DMing career was all set in Greyhawk, in the 80s and 90s. I took a long break from RPGs and have been using homebrew since.

D&D General "As DM I have Created a Homebrew D&D setting which I have Used for Two or More Separate Campaigns." (a poll)

I've had three separate campaigns on my homebrew world that I started building with the 5e playtest. All on separate parts of the same continent.

D&D General DMs: Do you review notes right before playing?

Sometimes. If I'm running something published or that I found on the web, I will. If it's something of my own, It's pretty much in my head and may or may not make it into a note.

D&D General One Piece of Art VI (Maps)- What is Your Favorite D&D Map?

I had the Darlene map framed and on my wall for the longest time. Those B/X and KotB maps tug at the heart strings as well. The Shattered Tower by Dyson Logos is another favorite of mine.

D&D General "When I DM I do my Best to Curb Players Meta-Gaming or Using Out-of-Character Knowledge." (a poll)

I cover knowledge about monsters in my session zero. If WotC published it, and it exists on my world, characters could reasonably know details about them. I don't care if they pull up the stat block during a fight either (playing online there is no way to police this anyway). That being said, I...

RPG Evolution - True Tales from Stranger Things: Satanism, Strategy & Clubs

We had a D&D club in middle school, but not in high school There was a teacher that sponsored it and a wargames club (Napoleonic miniature land and ship battles). No teacher to sponsor in high school, but by that point I had my own groups and didn't need a school group. One of my players was...

D&D 5E (2024) Wizards Presents show on August 18th! Update: WotC announces guests and time.

For those tying the Modron March to the codename Marathon...don't get your hopes up. Magic sets in development have codenames, and they are currently using alphabetical sports names (lacrosse/marathon/netball). Much like hurricanes, the names were picked long before they knew what the sets...

RPG Evolution - True Tales from Stranger Things: Kids on Bikes

Right there along side many of you roaming my hometown 1 hour north of Pittsburgh, PA. To this day, it still has a Main St. USA vibe to it. I had biked/walked/skated every square foot of that town, including the abandoned hoarder's house in the woods and the storm drains that ran under most of...

RPG Evolution: Solving the Gnome Problem

My rock gnomes are basically jawas, including their giant mobile crawlers. They first build the warforged. I like the classis pointy red hat gnome as my forest gnomes. There was a 3.x 3rd party supplement or an OSR book whose cover had a cool looking gnome war party with the hats. Can't for the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Magiteck guns?

I use magitech weapons in my World of Eska. I just make devices that cast attack cantrips. The most famous example are the shocklances that the hobgoblin legions use. Pretty much just a staff of shocking grasp.

D&D in the 80s, Fads, and the Satanic Panic

I should be in hell already with all the D&D I played and metal music I listened to in the 80s. I also had a player that had to lie about playing to his parents. Kept his dice and character sheets at my house.

    D&D 5E (2014) Rules Q: Sorcerer multiclass

BTW...the best tool for tracking spell slots with multi classed characters. It can get wonky when you add half casters, not to mention the fighter subclasses. https://fexlabs.com/5eslots/

D&D General what is the unifying theme of gnomes?

On my World of Eska, forest gnomes are the stereotypical red pointy hat wearers. There was an OSR or 3rd party 3.x book that I can't remember the name of, but had an awesome cover of some badass looking forest gnomes. Bonus points to anyone who could ID it. My rock gnomes = jawas from Star...

D&D 5E (2014) The Tale of the First World: What Do We Know About it and How Does it Connect to the Rest of the Lore? (+)

The great thing about a multiverse is that it's all true. First World, Dawn War, giants, aboleth, mind flayers, dragons, Cthulhu, the TVA, turtles all the way down. The true complexity of creation of the multiverse is beyond the comprehension of mere mortals such as ourselves. Season to taste.
