    D&D 5E (2014) Boxed texts

Honestly, even in English boxed text sounds weird and cringeworthy. @Quickleaf, great post and great examples of well designed and purposeful box text.

D&D 5E (2014) Clerics building temples to more than one god

In our world it is not uncommon for areas with a shared religious tradition to have a temple complex that has shrines for different divine personalities. For example: Hinduism Catholicism/Saints.

    D&D 5E (2014) Avernus Any Good?

@MerricB , that synopsis, is immensely helpful. It certainly encourages me to attempt another reading. Thank You.

    D&D 5E (2014) Avernus Any Good?

I have to say I hate Storm King's Thunder, beyond the pandering and over dependence on old lore, the plot is so convoluted. Just reading the plot overview, makes me not want to play it. The first encounter, with the ridiculous shaped Cloud Giant Tower seals it. I can't even finish reading...

    D&D 5E (2014) Avernus Any Good?

Show Off ☺😁😂😰😱😵 I found myself asking the same question the other day. Avernus has potential, but like most of the WotC, big modules, it lacks focus, and does not stick the landing. The Baldur's Gate portion of the module, is well written and good. The problem is starting off in Baldur's...

D&D 5E (2014) How good is the healer feat compared to Hit Dice?

That's a shame, I remember you were planning to combine the Healer feat with a Thief's Quick Hand's feature to make the healer of urchins and the downtrodden. It was a cool character concept. Only in D&D, does the phrase "Get a room!" becomes instead "Get a Rope Trick". In a High Magic, Red...

    D&D 5E (2014) Ideas For a World of Islands? (+thread)

@doctorbadwolf, I've had the Dolly Parton/Kenny Rogers duet, Islands in the Stream stuck in my head since reading this thread. I really like this thread, so I don't expect to be seeking retribution....but I am non plussed.... .......I think I might actually kinda like the song...🤮

    D&D 5E (2014) Best alchemist build

I'm not a fan of Coffeelock....but if anyone should be allowed, thematically to be imbibing stimulants to Keep Awake for a Night, while mixing a metric ton of "the good stuff" to give to your friends, it is an Alchemist. (Side note, college students make friends with chemistry majors...it has...

D&D 5E (2014) Why is the Phase Spider listed under "Miscellaneous Creatures" in the MM?

It also has the advantage of when you know you want to use a Spider for an encounter, all the different varieties are grouped together for you to peruse. My alternative answer, is that the Phase Spider had it's own entry, and of coursed just phased to the back of the book after printing.

D&D General Has anyone tried removing humans from the game?

Lowkey 13 is dead, long live the new joke king: Fenris-77! Fenris-77, who gave you my Laugh Shield Prefix codes? Your post photon torpedoes just took out my spleen.🤫

    D&D 5E (2014) Ideas For a World of Islands? (+thread)

I've actually ran something very similar to what Rangerwickett described for his PF2 game, and also separately similar to the picture he posted. There was a High Fantasy city next to the Sea of Abstraction, essentially a sort of an astral plane analogue filled with Half Worlds....(an idea...

D&D 5E (2014) How good is the healer feat compared to Hit Dice?

I have never had the Healer feat taken. The game doesn't break, but the increased spell slot expenditure for healing, means Long Rests are taken faster. I would recommend more scrolls/potions be "found" Not to thread jack, but, Olrox17 are you enjoying the Psi Knight? It is the closet 5e...

D&D General Has anyone tried removing humans from the game?

I've run a 5e rules Gamma World/Fallout-esque mini campaign. The PC were limited to mutated animal themed races...aarakocra, kenku, loxodon, tabaxi, minotaurs, etc and the like. Humans did exist, but were in power armor and the big bad, and a secret to be discovered. Humanoids in general were...

    D&D 5E (2014) Best alchemist build

I DM'd a campaign with an Alchemist in it. The subclass features are alright, but can be easily overshadowed, by group composition. The campaign went to 15th level before stopping due to work constraints from the pandemic, (Half the group are medical personnel). Some features of the campaign...

D&D General (Anecdotal) conversations with Asian gamers on some problems they currently face in the D&D world of RPG gaming

The moral of this could be, if one is posting while late, maybe hold off posting until time has passed. One tired misstep, and you might loose the high ground. I include myself, in this. In the spirit of comity, can we as ENworld, use our action to Disengage, (as their are no Rogues here who...

D&D General (Anecdotal) conversations with Asian gamers on some problems they currently face in the D&D world of RPG gaming

@Snarf Zagyg mentioned me, and a post I made. Thank you for the kind words. These threads have gotten exhausting. Snarf, thank you, for being conscientious. This is a very nuanced issue, and wether someone agrees or disagrees with your positions, you are respectful, and engaging earnestly...

D&D General How long does a body take to decompose in a bag of holding? (Asking for a friend...)

One thought that occurred to me is if the Bag of Holding is from the Artificer's Infusion, it seems reasonable for the artificer to be able to modify it so that it is a vacuum. Now that might not help with his current meat supply, but hey Kobold's are hard working, if nothing else. This...

    “You do realize”

It is more than "Just a few words" to satisfy the quibbles and nitpicks, that constitute a large part of this board's culture, and mode of behaving towards each other. The amount of times I've written a post as voluminous and dense as Kant's Critique of Pure Reason, to satisfy all the quibbles...

D&D 5E (2014) Re-Envisioning the Flood Trap of Cragmaw Hideout

A complex trap could fit well. For early rounds the DC to be swept along by the water could be low. As more water is released the DC increases. Add in a feature that activates on it's own initiative number, that drags a player under like a riptide. Sprinkle in some submerged razor wires...

    “You do realize”

I use "actually" quite a bit, alas. For me the word is an alternative to typing out the phrase "In my lived experience". So if someone wrote, for example: "No one thinks the Bane spell is better then the Bless spell" I likely would respond with something like this: "actually, I really like the...
