Moderators Setting the Tone for Discussions

In the thread of What’s so Great about Medieval Europe....the owner of En World made several comments referencing America in the first few pages. I don’t think it is too far of a stretch to say posters here, will take their lead on what type of posts are acceptable, from the owner and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Rogue / Echo Knight

In practical terms you are asking for a semi-solid, grayscale, Tupac Shakur hologram, that used to be at the Coachella Festival, be ruled as Hidden, despite the fact the hologram is standing right in front of it’s target, stabbing with a rapier. A clearly visible drone in Afghanistan, should...

    D&D 5E (2014) What’s So Great About Medieval Europe?

Thank You, for the above. Respectfully, I would like to posit....when a thread begins with copious “America” references, the end result of US politics raising it’s Ugly American head, is nigh assured. Don’t get me wrong, I love reading the different perspectives, and I am assuredly not...

    D&D 5E (2014) Rogue / Echo Knight

Except, it may matter, depending on the DM. I might not find a cheap pane of glass would block line of effect for a Charm Person spell, but another DM might. If a DM doesnt want someone using a spider familiar to act as a breaching unit for the Echo, then he or she might use this strict...

WotC Ray Winninger Is Head of D&D RPG Team; Mike Mearls No Longer Works on RPG

I’m unaware of this affaire d’ Zak. Mike Mearls used to post on Enworld, back in the 3x days, when he was just a freelancer, hoping for regular work in the industry. His posts were polite, inventive, and easy to read. I think the same could be said for his work in the RPG industry.

    D&D 5E (2014) Rogue / Echo Knight

The eyes of your familiar, are not your eyes. Which is why the interpretation of the word “you” matters. Watching something transpire 3 feet away from you, is not the exact same as witnessing an event through a video camera. The Familiar is seeing, the Echo Knight is pirating the video feed...

    D&D 5E (2014) Rogue / Echo Knight

Insightful Fighting. The synergy with a 3 level dip with Echo Knight is nice. Being able to bedevil an opponent at a distance and a get a near guaranteed Sneak Attack on the target upon moving would be devastating. An Echo, already negates the Mobile feat, by not being a creature. Add in...

    D&D 5E (2014) Rogue / Echo Knight

That would be me. So just affirming Ben’s disclaimer of: “Your DM, may not approve this.” Saying a grey hologram : -that occupies it’s own space - has an AC and an actual HP, and makes saving throws -whacks things with weapons is hidden just because the PC is, breaks my suspension of...

    D&D 5E (2014) Rogue / Echo Knight

My initial reaction: The PC is hidden. The Echo is not. An attack emanating from the Hidden PC gains Advantage as normal. Not attacks from the very visible Echo. Now if another PC/Ally was standing w/ in 5e of the foe, attacks from the Echo’s position would qualify for SA. An Echo has...

    D&D 5E (2014) What’s So Great About Medieval Europe?

The Black Death.💀 I mean, Europe didn’t even have chocolate or potatoes yet. Is anyone’s Fantasy, a world without chocolate or potatoes? 😃

Critical Role Echo Knight is Wildemount's Most Popular Subclass

So Ruin, do you also find the Guiding Bolt spell to “basically being an entire spell level higher”? Guiding Bolt’s average damage is essentially 1 point below the expected average damage for a 2nd level Single Target damage spell, based off the chart in the DMG on page 284. Guiding Bolt is a...

Critical Role Echo Knight is Wildemount's Most Popular Subclass

Ruin, find a quote of me, where I said, you said “the spells were broken”. Can’t find it can you. The reason why, Ruin Explorer is because I never said it. This is you, using your, imminently amusing, technique of bombast, bluster, and distraction😄 Your initial claim in this thread was the...

Critical Role Echo Knight is Wildemount's Most Popular Subclass

Ruin, have you seen a stage magician work up close? I’ve seen 3 Card Monte type effects, done in my own living room, with the trick spelled out to me, and failed to see the prestidigation. So, even if one had struck the Perfect Illusion previously, actively playing three card monte with the...

    D&D 5E (2014) 2 year campaign down the drain?

jasper also wrote a book entitled: How to lose friends, and not influence people 😘 The OP’s best friend was pushing the boundaries by suggesting and advocating strategies, the OP found “questionable”. The player was not using Charm Person to force compliance with the other players, was not...

Critical Role Echo Knight is Wildemount's Most Popular Subclass

This is a quote from Wildemont: Dunamancy spells are readily available to the wizard subclasses in this chapter and should not be simply added to the full spell lists ofother spellcasting classes. However, the Dungeon Master can consider allowing other spell casting classes opportunities...

    D&D 5E (2014) 2 year campaign down the drain?

Unless The Unicorn’s Lair is the name of a hidden exclusive tavern the players need to infiltrate, the meagre number of effects keyed off Alignment in 5e, leads to the conclusion that Alignment is no longer the stick, (or shtick😄), it was to compel certain behavior in players. The DM saying...

    D&D 5E (2014) 2 year campaign down the drain?

If Alignment mattered, the above might mean something. Instead, you are incentivizing even more heinous actions. If the DM just made a big show about changing our alignments, then the players might as well go “All In” on the alignment change. At least one can have fun, and more easily...

D&D General Your favorite things about editions that aren't your favorite.

I felt the exact opposite about 4e. Take the Expected Wealth charts of 3e, and make them more complicated and essential for balance. I hated that. A fun edition to be a player. I loved 4e Ritual Magic....and the Flaming Sphere daily power.

D&D General Do people like re-skinning?

Take a Bulette, add a Sonic, (Thunder), Breath Weapon, and a Turn to Stone gas Breath Weapon. Rock Dragon Design, complete. This is much easier then the custom monster tables in the DMG. Take Magic Missile, change damage type and description. Play up the unerringly hit part. I’ve used this...
