D&D 5E (2024) What spells should be dropped?

Pass without Trace. Or at least the ridiculous +10 to stealth. That's some 3E bonus right there. "What's bounded proficiency?" says WOTC.

D&D 5E (2024) They butchered the warlock in the new packet

WOTC could afford the whole two extra pages it would require in the PHB to outline Artificer, Paladin, Ranger, and Warlock spells. Put fireball at 2nd level on the Artificer/Warlock spell list for example, and 3rd level on the Arcane.

D&D 5E (2024) They butchered the warlock in the new packet

Plus lower spell slots makes spells like Armor of Agathys go from an interesting choice to garbage. Oohhh, 10 temp HP at level 5! Look out asthmatic kobolds! Hybrid casting really only works for utility spells and buffs/debuffs that don't scale through hit points. A +2 to AC is always relevant...

D&D 5E (2024) They butchered the warlock in the new packet

Against one target. Burning Hands rises to a lofty 13 damage, save for half, vs 2d10+8. Why are we having to jump through hoops to get the damage that should just be baked into the class? Sneak Attack just works. The paladin's extra radiant damage just works. No need to fart around casting a...

D&D 5E (2024) They butchered the warlock in the new packet

Crappy spells. You get fireball at 9th level, as opposed to 5th when the damage is significant. All hybrid casters suffer from using full caster's hand me downs many levels after they were relevant. You're still blasting every round because otherwise you're the chump casting a first level...

    D&D 5E (2024) I like the new Warlock

The optional magic weapons you aren't guaranteed to get and supposedly aren't taken into account? It falls behind at 11th level with the third blast. It would be easy to fix it with more scaling than just the extra attack at 5th level. They should absolutely remove the non-heavy restriction...

    D&D 5E (2024) I like the new Warlock

LOL, like I trust WOTC to balance anything. Balance takes effort, and to a good chunk of their customers act personally attacked by attempts to balance the game. The usual defenders will go "but muh arr pee!" as though they can't roleplay if Pact of the Blade dealt equal damage, and it will get...

    D&D 5E (2024) I like the new Warlock

It's still kind of a trap. You attack up to 4 times for d10+Cha at range, vs attacking twice for d8+Cha in melee.

    D&D 5E (2024) I like the new Warlock

How the hell is agonizing blast still not just baked into the class? One invocation basically doubles your at will damage output. Anyone not taking it is seriously gimping themselves, particularly with the slower spell aquisition. They may as well have made sneak attack an opt-in to noob trap...

    D&D 5E (2014) Meet the Japanese Iconic D&D Party!

The other tipoff is that the halfling isn't a grotesque monstrosity.

D&D Movie/TV Dragonlancing TV show being worked on by WotC confirmed

Not really. Liking the character is a complete red flag for me. A bitter little weasel who wants nothing more to become the bully he supposedly hates. He's basically Harold from the Stand, given a Mary Sue injection cranked to 11.

D&D Movie/TV Dragonlancing TV show being worked on by WotC confirmed

I can't wait for all the Raistlin fans to get mad that their hero comes off as an incel type without realizing that's what he was all along.

D&D General Crime and Punishment in a Less Magical World

I wouldn't allow full casters in a low magic D&D world. I'd drop all casters to half casters, with no further balance adjustments for them, or only allow half casters. Being a caster in a low magic world is like running a modern RPG and one character is the Flash. The world is simply not...

D&D 5E (2024) New One D&D Weapons Table Shows 'Mastery' Traits

Because it allows for levels of success, something most modern RPG's have that D&D fails at, though I guess this thread illustrates why. You have marginal success, standard success, and critical success. If you don't see the difference between a miss with a +1 warhammer dealing 4 damage on a...

    D&D 5E (2024) Spells. What needs adjusted?

They should go back to Fortitude/Reflex/Will. All classes get at least one good save and two half proficiency saves.

D&D 5E (2024) New One D&D Weapons Table Shows 'Mastery' Traits

Because the gameplay loop is roll a check or force a save to determine outcome. Are people's minds broken the same way with Acid Arrow, a spell attack that deals damage on a miss?

D&D 5E (2024) New One D&D Weapons Table Shows 'Mastery' Traits

I'll accept some town guard with marginally better numbers as a fighter when mages are limited to what a stage magician can pull off.

D&D 5E (2024) New One D&D Weapons Table Shows 'Mastery' Traits

To reflect that getting hit with a glancing blow in armor still hurts when the right person does it. Even if not a glancing blow it's wearing an opponent down, similar to how boxers often fight. It's simulationist if nothing else.

D&D 5E (2024) New One D&D Weapons Table Shows 'Mastery' Traits

I mean, it's not. You aren't dying one second then operating with no penalty the next because someone slapped a bandaid on you with the Medicine skill. There's no death spiral. Wounds are just HP loss, there's no shoting a hand back on as a warlord because HP lost doesnt result in limb loss.
