    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

You just don't want it to say that, it is the same as IRL plain and simple. Hide doesn't give you the Invisibility spell for free. Good luck with your argument. If you don't want to play it like it is play it how you prefer.

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

360 degrees is a circle not a line. Line of sight is looking at you plus their perhriphial vision, you can see them, they are not "looking" if you are not in their line of sight(outside of their cone of sight i.e. direct line plus perhriphial) the passive perception comes into play.

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

As I have said you are conflating the spell with the action. Think of hiding IRL, that's how it works in the game. Hiding gives you the invisible condition because it works within the rules, not because you are actually invisible.

Only if you move while they are looking at you when you move, line of site. Otherwise it is passive perception. Again there is no magic associated with the Hide action, it is skill, timing and luck not magic.

To set the DC for the perception check for the enemy to end the condition.

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

Hiding gives you the condition Invisible while you're hidden, it does not make you invisible like the spell does. If you Hide you are "invisible" until someone sees you. You do not become invisible without magic. The enemy does not need to "look" for you if they can see you, i.e.not actually...

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

There is no magic associated with the action Hide, thus you can be seen if you are not hidden which is why you can not hide if an enemy can see you. Passive perception can break it too.

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

Are you saying if a character is hiding, using the hide action, from an enemy behind a rock, and the enemy looks behind said rock, the enemy will not see the character hiding there? Or if the "hidden" character moves into the enemies line of sight they won't be seen?

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

I get it, but it is a wholey un-nesacary exercise to prove that the spell is different than the action, which has been explained ad nauseam over the last few pages.

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

Your example is flawed as it does not include the Hide Purple Action. You are either conflating the Spell Invisibility with the Action Hide, or you are looking for a debate that just is not there.

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

Oh, sorry I thout you were having trouble understanding the rules as written, I have no interest in debating your HB. Which is leaving out the action Hide Purple.

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

I did, I have actually read the entire thread. Please read my post you quoted where I explained in detail the difference. The action Hide does not cast the Spell Invisibility, they are 2 different things that provide the Condition invisible with their own rules to how the condition can be ended.

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

It is explained in the rules, both versions, you are conflating two independent things that are very similar. Hide (5.5) is an action that requires a Stealth check DC 15. What you roll is the perception check DC to see you. If you pass the Stealth check you gain the invisible condition until...

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

Hiding is essentially hide and seek, as long as no one sees you you are invisible until you are found. The invisibility spell actually makes you invisible. Outside of that the are pretty much the same.

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

Hiding is a condition that makes you "invisible" unless you get caught hiding, or you break it. The invisible spell makes you invisible (a condition that is similar to hidden, but different) until the spell ends or you break it.

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

The spell is just that a spell it is cast, and has no other requirements to work. It works until time runs out, or something is done to break it. You can literally vanish in site of the enemy. Hide requires you to be out of sight and roll a stealth check. Which is the DC for the perception...

Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks Talks AI Usage in D&D [UPDATED!]

The real question and ensuing battles will be over who gets to do the supervising. Which, in my opinion, is why it should not be used in anything commercial.

As many say over onn DDB, D&D is a luxury, if you cant afford it then don't play it, I guess they are now picking and choosing who gets the new rules and who doesn't. At least they put inclusivity first.
