D&D 5E (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

I know @GMforPowergamers said it all the time but I think he is gone. Where is @Vaalingrade i think he has similar experience. I wish I paid more attention to screen names of people I didn’t know we had to justify ourselves with references

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 5.11 - the time of big change is over

In our games that % was a huge deal maybe more important then system shock And that was the dream First time someone told me you could start with a dwarf with a 20 con in 3e that is what I imagined. I was VERY disappointed in the new combined modifier and spell only charts

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 5.11 - the time of big change is over

Yea and no. Natural 18 was cap, although I heard many use a house rule that the stat you got your +1 to could go to 19. But this was magic My human fighter got dropped in god liquid and almost died. I got an infusion of blood from a half dwarf half god and that blood plus that liquid gave me...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 5.11 - the time of big change is over

I started in 2e in 90s A fighter with 9d10 (plus 9x con bonus that was much harder to get) plus 3 per level over 9th could end 20th level with less then 100hp but that would be weak. Breaking 100ho was a big deal in 2e. But it wasn’t impossible in the teens for levels. There was also a...

D&D 5E (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

I don’t know where you pulled 5-10% from but I agree that most people fall between but side with either depending on conversation. The idea that anyone can be sure that there side is more is weird. Same Hi. I post all the time that my group almost never mixes full casters with non casters

D&D 5E (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

If you go into detail people argue you have picked too good for the caster It cracks me up that people think that doing 70% of damage maybe ever 80% on a good day is such a big hit when you also get all the control and non combat abilities

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 5.11 - the time of big change is over

That is sad. I had a whole slew of ideas for that back then and even during the playtest.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 5.11 - the time of big change is over

I asked this before but what % of people are saying “evil WoTC is lying” compared to what I say of “It looks like an edition change and break no matter how much they don’t want it to be” Having said that: I agree with her. The thread appears to be a question of how we feel and what we would...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 5.11 - the time of big change is over

I don’t think the 70% info goes that far back but at least before this playtest. But the shock is how much sounds like it is reverting.

Look at it this way. They are listening to people say it’s like a new editon. So even if we wanted them to lean into it more and instead they are back tracking, they are at least listening.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 5.11 - the time of big change is over

Yeah my first choice was through out back comparability and make a better core game. But roll back so it is fully the same game with minor tweeks is the other way of handling the complaint. Yeah they are in danger of standing in the middle of the road and getting hit by cars going both ways...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 5.11 - the time of big change is over

I’m sad that we won’t get some of the changes as an optional car rent of the class but overall this is what I have been asking for (my second choice but still what I have asked for) I wonder if that means doing away with the 4 subclass per class and back to wizard and cleric getting them all...

D&D 5E (2024) Are Bishops "Clerics" or "Priests"

I use the NPC stats more now that I use Roll20 cause I can import them as a starting point.

Let’s keep it a detective so Corrigan instead of Wayne

D&D 5E (2024) What do we know about the subclasses in the OneD&D PHB?

Just remember there is no I in team BUT there are 5 I’s in forget it I don’t care the size of the room I cast fireball.

D&D 5E (2024) Martial vs Caster: Removing the "Magical Dependencies" of high level.

That’s cute but no it isn’t the same as magic Edit and a demon immune to non magical damage would be in d&d immune to guns. Nothing in mythology is invincible like things are in d&d

You do realize DMG lists modern and even future sci fi guns. And none count as magic.

D&D 5E (2024) What do we know about the subclasses in the OneD&D PHB?

I wonder if they will have evoked diviner abjured and Necromancer.

I disagree. It makes the PC feel like that powerful NPC especially when people act shocked “wait you killed the invulnerable with a rock?!” It didn’t trivialize it. The fight was just as epic wether it was with a +3 sword or a pencil I will at least say you are consistent

Good one. If a normal sword can then a fireball or disintegrate can but if a normal sword can’t then a normal disintegrate shouldn’t.
