D&D General Heroes of Myth and Legend

Roll20 works pretty well. The chat and dice rolling are good, the maps tool works best with purchased assets, but ok with just rough drawings, and the voice stuff is pretty reliable. The ability to easily share images, handouts, etc… is a real strength, especially over a campaign when you want...

D&D General What are you prepping for your next D&D session? (+)

Well, they got out of Dodge, went to Candlekeep, avoided my mini-adventure, refused to dealwith their enemy, and now one PC has been kidnapped, possibly by said enemy (actually HIS one-time ally now almost enemy who are sort of betraying him).

D&D General What are you prepping for your next D&D session? (+)

My PCs just killed off most of an enemy adventuring party whoambushed them in an alley. Now they need to figure out why and either prove to the watch they were not the aggressors (the cook/innkeeper may or may not help them), or get out of Dodge. Then they need to do some research. This will...

    D&D 3.x Edition Experience - Did/Do you Play 3rd Edtion D&D? How Was/Is it?

We've been playing 3.5 steadily with a one-campaign diversion into 5th (oh, we also played 5e online for a year, so two campaigns, I guess) when it first came out. We played 2nd edition, essentially the same way we play 3rd. I've had ONE prestige class used in all our years of 3e, ONE PC that...

D&D General Heroes of Myth and Legend

I'm pretty lost by the current discussion. It all seems to esoteric and convoluted to me. I like 3.5. You have abilities. You have skills. They complement each other. Synergy shows where they overlap. I'd add a lot more synergy bonuses, or allow people to "buy" a synergy bonus with a feat/boon...

D&D General Heroes of Myth and Legend

I HATE the term "knack". I don't think it suits at all the way I think of skills. Skills are training. Knacks are things you are instinctively good at; they may get BETTER if you have associated skill training, but I for example, have a knack for handicrafts. I'm just good at them, a...

I think folding together is great, but then somewhere a bullet list for character creation and level up.

Lol, sure. I have noticed a distinct lack of semicolons in your writing!

D&D General Heroes of Myth and Legend

my preference is for a master list, with each boon tagged or labeled as to what forms it can take.

D&D General What are you prepping for your next D&D session? (+)

My PCs are about to enter a dungeon/module, but nearby is a ruined town with a crashed airship in it. Warforged ex-crew and goblins live in the ruins, while other crew that stayed on the ship have recently been awakened and are trying to repair it. I am hoping the PCs will go explore and find a...

D&D General The Unofficial Settings You Want Published for D&D

The books were based on a dnd campaign. They do the moathouse in book 2. I need to reread!

D&D General Heroes of Myth and Legend

So I am halfway through the rules. I want more concrete examples! I like this system a lot better than trying to parse boons and feats in the old version. Yay!

Sounds pretty good. I haven’t dived into the rules yet; maybe tonight.

Sean K. Reynolds talks RPG salaries, puts his on record.

Dollar figures. In real terms, I would say I have gone from just paying my bills to comfortable for 2adults, no kids. We do have excellent benefits, but they are the same as they’ve been the whole of my career.

Sean K. Reynolds talks RPG salaries, puts his on record.

I am a professional librarian. I have had essentially the same job with the same employer for 27 years. I make less than 2x my starting salary. This is typical for my career path.

Do you remember your first RPG purchase?

Mom took me and my brother to a hobby shop in XENIA, I think, to buy what turned out to be Basic d&d, with the wax dice. Would have been in ‘77? Anyway, we pored over the blue geomorph maps and encounter tables and instructions on LEVELING up for hours! My cleric was immediately stung to death...

D&D General Did you get your start playing D&D, and what do you play now?

I started with OD&D in about 1975-6, and have played MANY other games. 3.5 has become my comfort game, but I like just about anything else somebody else will DM.
